Cloth Diapering

I'm posting about stink again...

I just had to run my diapers through TWO wash cycles with two rinses EACH to deal with ONE stinky diaper. I've been battling stink since my son was switched to Ailimentum, and it's just the poopy diapers that get stinky. the runny EFF poo won't spray off well... any suggestions? Do I need to bite the bullet and start using disposable liners? Has anyone else ever run into this before?

Re: I'm posting about stink again...

  • I haven't, but if we did I think I'd try a different detergent before I'd try liners.  Liners probably aren't going to help much with the runny poo since it won't stay on the liner anyway.

What kind of detergent are you using?  What does your wash routine look like?  Sometimes using a warm rinse first instead of cold helps get out more of the poo for some people.

    Good luck!

  • I agree with the warm water rinse. I in a way cloth diaper my guinea pigs. They have fleece blankets down on the tarp. If they don't get changed often enough, they are horribly gross to wash so I will prewash them before sticking them in the washer. If I let them soak in warm water with dish soap it gets out so much more ickyness than just letting it soak with cold water with soap. (The reason I soak and don't do a rinse in the machine is because their fur gets stuck all over the fleece and it's a pain to clean out of the machine).
