Antihistamine Protocol??

Anyone know anything about this? I think from what I'm reading its a CCRM thing but can't find all that much info on it. I Google way too much and I have an odd allergy thing and was wondering about going on some sort of antihistamine when I found there was supposedly a protocol for it. My RE isn't prescribing anything (like no prednisone or dex ) but he did say I'm fine taking the antihistamines.....  any info?

I know CCR.M used to use it.  I don't think they use it anymore though.  I follow a thread an another forum about CC.RM patients and I remember someone saying they don't use it anymore.

    Ticker warning...

I hope you don't mind me coming over and commenting from IF. My RE is having me do this protocol. He isn't doing prednisone though. I'm going to be doing Claritin (1 24-hour dose) in the AM, Pepcid (one dose) in the afternoon, and benedryl (50mg) before bed. Allergies cause the TH-1 and TH-2 (antihistamine things in our bodies-clearly not the technical term!) to become unbalanced. The Claritin works on the TH-1 and the benedryl works on the TH-2. I'm sorry, but I don't remember what the Pepcid does. I just know I have to take it. Women with active NK cells tend to have a larger imbalance, but anyone with weird allergies have some level of unbalance of the TH-1 and/or TH-2. You can have your blood tested to see if there is a whacky balance issue, but my RE is pretty comfortable just going by allergy symptoms. I have crazy allergies, so he was okay with doing this. I know c.crm used to use it, I don't know if they still do or not, but from what I've researched, there are quite a few women who still do it. The meds are all okay (except prednisone, which is what c.crm uses in place of benadryl) during pregnancy, so it's safe to use during a treatment cycle. My RE said that for the best control, Claritin needs to be taken for the month before transfer, but the Pepcid and benedryl can be started two days after transfer. Hope that helps a little!

Hmm thanks!! My RE said antihistamines are ok for me to take, so I'm self medicating. Mainly because I'm itchy (I have mast cells externally on my skin and break out occasionally) with the goofy weather we've been having in Chicago. I haven't been to my allergy/immunology doc in a few years but she had me on a cocktail of claritin and Zantac (something else took cant remember) so I figured I'd just start it up again....if anything maybe ill stop itching LOL
