Active Baby...Normal?

So my son has always been an active baby. Sometimes it's tough to change his diaper because he's constantly moving his legs. My mother has often described him as "squirmy".  Lately I've noticed that not only has his kicking increased in strength but he's also started to move his arms up and down.  The other day it concerned me because he was moving his hands up and down, resulting in him hitting his head.  But hitting himself didn't seem to bother him, he just kept going.  As a FTM, I don't know if it's normal for a baby his age to be so active with his hands and legs.  Does anyone else's LO act similarly?

My DD is exactly the same and has been since the day she was born. Alert and active. All of our friends' babies sit calmly on their parents laps while DD is constantly bouncing around.

When she moves her arms up and down like that we say she's doing her jumping jacks.

She also shrimps all over the floor when on her back moving all around. We already need to use baby gates!

My DD has been like this since BEFORE she was born. Her pedi was pretty amused at her last appointment.

My son is just like this! He is very squirmy, always hitting himself (or his toy, the dog, the table, etc), very alert, and loves to roll all over the floor and scoot around on his tummy or back.

I'd be more concerned if they weren't active.

DS is super squirmy!! Tonight it was impossible to keep him still enough to get his diaper on, so he woke up very upset and soaked

Jake is the exact same way. He squirms quite a bit during diaper changes (he smiles at the same time, so I think he thinks it's a game) and he's been hitting himself a lot as of late. It doesn't seem to be hurting him, so I don't worry.

I just watched videos of my DS and he was like that.  He was always moving/kicking.  In fact, I just asked DH if we should be concerned because DD is not nearly as active.

Good luck because my active baby translated into a VERY active toddler.

I'm pretty sure my LO hasn't stopped kicking since she first started, around what is it? 11 weeks pregnant? LOL.

I always wonder to myself how many calories she burns a day :-P Only time she stops kicking is after shots when her little legs are sore

Ha, mine, too! Everyone always comments on it, too. I'm sure it's why she has no chub on her little arms and legs, and her pedi was surprised she eats so much and is so small...she just never stops moving!

I've become a master at dressing him upside down. He squirms so much during diaper changes and as soon as that diaper is on him I can't stop him from squirming and rolling on his side/tummy!

Thanks ladies for sharing your stories....feeling so much more at ease.  As a FTM, I just didn't know if it was common or not.
