Later this afternoon, I have an HSG scheduled for my RE to determine if he needs to take my tubes out before we start IVF.  Please keep me in your thoughts, and if you pray, pray for me that I don’t need surgery.  I had surgery for Endo in October 12’ and surgery when I had my ectopic pregnancy in April this year and I would really like to not go through that again so soon.  Also, I am very torn on having my tubes removed at all.

I am very ignorant on the workings of IVF. Why would they have to remove your tubes? I don't blame you, I wouldn't feel comfortable with that...

And I am sorry about all the surgeries. I know that stinks and it takes a toll on your body.

Let me see if i can get what I understand in my brain, into words. 

Because of all the damage from endometriosis, and possibly the ectopic pregnancy, they will run the dye through my tubes to see if the dye collects in a pool or if it drains out.  When there is damage in there from the endo, the egg can't get picked up and move through the tubes, and neither can other fluids that normally run through the body, and there is a fluid that if it collects can be toxic and will reduce implantation (by 50%) and raise the rate of miscarriage. I have also heard that it can increase the chances of an ectopic, but i'm not sure how on that one.  My obgyn told me that. 

I can't remember what my RE called it, all the paperwork is at home, not that I would be able to spell it anyway. 

The first reason we were referred to an RE was because of the damage from endo, but then we found out that I had DOR so it seems like IVF would be our only choice, even though we are still trying naturally. 

Hopefully that makes some sense.

Thanks everyone. I'm a bit crampy and not sure of the outcome just yet. They put the images on a cd and I dropped it off at my RE.

She did say the right was blocked and the left looked like it was pooling but said it would be up to the RE on the removal. Sigh. I will just keep praying I don't need the surgery.
