Napping vs. sleeping

Hey guys. Anybody who has been on bed rest awhile have an opinion on napping? Does it mess up your regular nighttime sleep to let yourself nap during the day?

Re: Napping vs. sleeping

  • It does for me sometimes. I just sleep when I am tired though and I don't worry about time. I figure my sleep will be really messed up once the baby is here so I will sleep when I can for now.

  • I haven't been on BR a long time, but I do take a nap every afternoon. Most night it doesn't interfere with my sleep. I didn't get a nap yesterday and I think it contributed to my meltdown.

  • I take a nap every morning after DS and DH leave the house.  So maybe it's more of  I go back to bed. ha.  Sometimes I also take an afternoon nap.  Usually I only sleep about 3 hours extra during the day.
I don't think that it messes with my nighttime sleep...but who knows.

  • I nap when I want. I've actually fallen asleep when people are visiting me. Oops!
  • I wish I could nap. I just cannot seem to sleep in the hospital. I get Ambien every night just to sleep from 11 to 7. Time would pass faster if I could nap too.

  • Even when I cut out naps, I still have a hard time sleeping at night.  I've stopped trying to fight the naps since I don't see an difference and at least I'm getting more sleep if I take a nap.

  • You're so right, @Lbear8! I sleep terribly no matter what!
  • Unless i have a dr appt, I sleep when I want.  I feel like it is one of the few things I actually have control over.

Also, some times I get SO tired during the day that I have no option BUT to nap.

Also, the more I sleep, the faster times goes by...

If I can't sleep at night, I just watch tv.

I have been making an effort not to nap. The only two times I have were when I got woken up early for procedures. I am in the hospital though, so I think that makes a difference. I have been falling asleep pretty easily at night around 11 and sleeping till 8.

I am SO jealous that they let you sleep til 8. The parade of people in my room starts at 5 every morning. I have to fit a nap in somewhere.
