Hello, adoption board!
I want to officially introduce myself (after lurking a little while) now that DH and I are OFFICIALLY starting the adoption process. We live in Arizona and we are going the foster-to-adopt route.
In my late teens, my doctor told me that having children would be difficult due to PCOS and an irregular cycle. Two months after getting married, we were shocked to learn that we were pregnant (truly, a miracle!). Our son is now 27 months and we have been TTC #2 for 13 months with only an ectopic pregnancy to show for it. My OB has told me that getting pregnant again will be a challenge (if at all possible). We are eager to expand our family and have always had adoption on our hearts. We thought China would be our route but we don't qualify at this point (DH and I are 25). I know a piece of my heart is in China for the future but I am very excited to find a missing piece of my heart that is somewhere nearby!
We have settled on an agency and are just beginning the paperwork! Holy moly, is it intimidating but we are SO exited :-)
Thanks for letting me join!
Re: Intro - New here, starting the adoption process!
Your little guy is close to the same age as ours too!
In Arizona you HAVE to go through an agency to foster or adopt (they call them "mentoring" agencies - they're not private). The state gave us a list of ones we could choose from and we got to pick. We chose a Catholic agency because we liked the reviews we heard and the expediency with which they move! One we contacted never even called us back...bad sign for the first step!
