  • I also ate an entire box of Mac and Cheese for lunch yesterday and then followed it up with cheese ravioli for dinner. Holy carbs! It was wonderful..,

I have my first ultrasound Monday and as much as I absolutely love my mother in law, I do not want her to go! I wanted it to just be me & my husband. But neither one of us can tell her no! So I just have to suck it up.. But now I am not looking forward to it as much as I wanted! :(
Your first ultrasound is also transvaginal, not like where they put the wand on your belly like the movies. Plus it is a really special moment for the two of you. Two good reasons for her not to go.
This is true, I had mine yesterday actually and wasn't aware it was internal.  I would have been much more uncomfortable had my MIL been there!

Last night my toddler peed in her bath the second I put her in it. I was too tired to care so I just had her stand up while I washed her hair. I used fresh water from the faucet to rinse her off so I count that as a win.

Urine is sterile. It's fine. :)

Yeah, that's why I couldn't get it up to care. I'm sure a good mom would have emptied the bath and started over though.

Yeah, I never do that! Just feel good you used fresh water. :)

  • I'm getting really sick of people expecting me to make them show-quality cakes for Walmart prices.  I charge way less than a bakery, but if you want a custom, tiered, fondant-covered cake, it's going to cost more than a grocery store!  It doesn't help that every just-starting baker out there undercharges like crazy.  I flat refuse to lower my prices to compete.  If people want the quality that I can and do produce, they're going to have to pay for it.

I say stick with your prices. You know what you're worth. The same thing happens in the design and web fields... just starting freelancers and even some others will way undercharge, but you know what, if your work is higher quality than what the others are doing, then people will be willing to pay for it.

  • DH has been out of town all week on business and I know he'll be tired when he gets home (he works long hours) but I still plan on having him take care of DD all weekend while I catch up on rest. Sorry DH! Life isn't fair sometimes. ;)

Not necessarily. My first was abdominal. I've never had an internal ultrasound. It depends on how far along you are and how your doc does things.

    :(
Unfortunately, all of us who do some sort of self-employed business have to deal with that.  Yes, I love music, but no, I will not necessarily give up hours of my time to play for an event for free or provide lessons for your child when you decide to go on vacation last minute, do not tell me, then do not understand why I still charge you for the lesson!  When I donate my skills for events or students (and I do that on a regular basis...I am probably way too generous when it comes to charging!), it is for a good reason.  I do still have to make a living.

That being said, I do not know how established you are (and these are things you may well have done or considered), but perhaps you could run a few "specials" to build up a client/reference base to get jump-started or do a side-by-side comparison of pictures of your cakes to others of the same caliber.  Good luck!

But what if no one goes out to get some and you get up in the middle of the night to pee!?! I hope you have tissues somewhere!

You need to learn to tell her no.  She will end up running your child's life if you do not take control of the situation.

this. If you dont grow a pair now with her, she's going to ruin your family life.

Definitely this!!! She will be all about controlling your child's life if she doesn't even have boundaries where your first ultrasound is concerned!

  • I've had wine and will continue to have a half glass once in a while. I also do coffee and lunchmeat (when the thought of lunchmeat doesn't make me want to vomit). I say everything in moderation. Before anyone gets up in arms about wine, it's accompanied by a huge 24+ oz glass of water and I savor that shit for hours.

  • I skipped a friend's birthday tonight and DH went alone because I felt crummy... But not crummy enough to not drive to Wendy's to get a chocolate shake and fries with the dog.
