I'm sick

Grr. A couple days ago, I woke up feeling a little off. I chalked it up to being tired or something. Two days later and now I have full on flu-like symptoms. I feel completely rotten- fever, chills, body aches.

And of course, I have now exposed B to all of this. And it is not like I can take a parenting sick day, so I will continue to expose him. I am so worried about him getting sick! Any suggestions? What do you moms do when you get sick?

  • Are you BFing? If you are, your milk will have antibodies to whatever you have and will help protect LO. The best thing to do is to continue to nurse (if you are nursing), wash your hands often, and rest as much as you can. Hope you feel better soon!

  • If you are BFing, I would keep an eye out for mastitis. That is exactly how I felt at the beginning. I ended up needing antibiotics.

  • @cricket81- did you have any pain in your breasts before the fever hit? Mine feel totally fine, so I was just curious on the order of symptoms for mastitis.

this, and the pain in my breasts was the next day. I was also very dehydrated and drinking over 5litres of water a day.

  • No lie, I had an upper respiratory infection 2 days after giving birth (I'm convinced I got this from the hospital)...I was still BFing and pumping at the time and I think that's what prevented DD from getting sick too. Who knows. I had to resist the urge to touch or kiss her face to try and avoid getting her sick. Also, wash your hands constantly, every single time before you touch your LO. That's about all you can do.
