Wake up by 6:30 (not my choice!) - get everyone ready and do a few things upstairs, downstairs around 7:15.
7:15 - 8:30 - breakfast and play
8:30 - 9:00ish - he watches a show so I can put the baby down for nap
By 10 the baby is up and we usually go out somewhere and DS has a snack on-the-go. We go to a store, storytime, music class, Mom's club activity etc. 1 or 2 days a week we don't go out, but I like to because even for a short while really breaks up the morning.
Home by 12, lunch, and then they both go down for nap around 1.
By 3 everyone is usually awake. We have snack and then hang out, play, clean etc. until DH gets home around 5 and I start dinner. We never really go anywhere in the afternoon but it tends to go pretty quickly.
DS (7 years old) from FET in 2010 DD (5 years old) from IUI in 2012 TTC 3rd and final!: IUI #1 in progress!
8:00 - up for the day unless we have no/late morning plans, in which case I doze in bed until about 8:30
9:00 - out the door for gymnastics, therapy, or play date
11:30 - lunch
12:00 - down for nap (takes him about an hour to fall asleep)
While he's down, I eat lunch, work out, watch a little TV, straighten up the house a bit, and prep dinner if needed.
3:00 - he's up, we have a snack, and go to swim lessons, therapy, or play dates
5:30 - I start dinner
We stay very, very busy. Part of that is because we have therapy 3x/week, but I just like to get out of the house. We do stay home from time to time, but even if we don't have plans, we'll go for a walk to feed the ducks or look at the horses down the street or something.
I completely understand the weird schedule @loppy19 - we have one as well because DH goes into work so late (around 10-11am) and doesn't get home until about 9pm.
Once school starts, I wake both kids up at 7:30am (school starts at 8:20am and we live down the street) so, all the times below can be pushed back about 2hrs. Bedtime is 8pm.
9am - Nolan is getting up late these days because Emily isn't in school and we HATE alarm clocks so, we are just going with it! He entertains himself in the playroom while I make breakfast and then, we almost always immediately go out into the backyard or to our play program, Pump It Up's open play time, the zoo/aquarium where we have memberships, or to a friend's house for a play date by about 10:30am.
1pm - lunch either wherever we are or at home
2-5pm - Nap time. He's going through a growth spurt and sleeping about 3hrs these days. Typically, it's 2hrs.
5-7:30pm - Evening play time, take Emily to swim lessons, run an errand, go on a walk, meet up with friends at the park.
7:30pm - Kids eat dinner then it's bath time and play time upstairs in Nolan's room to wind down
9:30pm - Lights out for Nolan then Emily once DH is home
@tobemrsshavers The best part of our schedule is that I don't have to wake up until 9AM if I don't want to. The worst is that he's not home in the evenings. Bath/bedtime is my least favorite part of the day.
@loppy19 - totally understand and feel the same way!!! though with my oldest being almost 7yrs, she can pretty much take care of herself so I just have Nolan for bath/bed time. I can't imagine having Nolan and being pregnant. Hang in there!!!
L is not quite 2 yet, but our typical day is: Up at 8 AM and eat breakfast He usually takes about 30 mins to eat, then he does independent play while I do a bit of cleaning. On Tuesdays we go to story time. And we usually do errands if we have any to do on that day. Sometimes we will do errands on different days if we need to. Otherwise, I usually play a little bit of something with him. Cars, Megablocks, whatever. He's more into parallel play but we are working on more interaction. If the weather is decent we will go play outside for a bit or go to the pool or park. He usually gets a snack around 10:30 and he likes to read books while he eats a snack. At noonish he eats lunch. Then we do some more playing or sometimes a craft. He really likes to "help" me with simple chores so that keeps him occupied too. At 1:30 he gets a quick bath before he goes down for a nap at 2:00. He stays in his crib until 5:00. He usually sleeps until 4:00 or 4:30 and then just rests, plays, or talks to his "babies." When he gets up he gets to watch an episode of "Ice-ines" (Little Einsteins) and eats a small snack/water while I make dinner. Sometimes he likes to be in the kitchen so I'll set him up with a coloring book or cars. When DH gets home he plays with Daddy for a while until dinner around 6:30. After dinner he plays or reads and then is in bed at 8.
Ours feels odd right now. LO wakes up between 8:00 and 8:30, right as DH leaves for work. I give her some milk and make breakfast, clean up and play a bit, then she is ready for a nap around 11:30-12:00. She sometimes has a snack before that, but usually doesn't eat it. She gets up from her nap around 2:30-3 and I make lunch. Poor DH comes home then to have lunch with us. Then we usually go out and do something, and come home in time to have a snack/make dinner around 7 and then bath and bed around 8:30-9.
I need to be better about waking DD up. She should be up by 8 and I don't know if she's playing or snoozing, but she's quiet in her room until 9 lately.
5:30 - wake up, have coffee and breakfast with DH, bump, chores
8 - up and eat breakfast
8:30 - play in the yard or take the dog for a walk, stop at the park
10 - home to play wherever or out to a playdate (I'll play with her for a while, but then I clean the kitchen or read on the deck)
12 - lunch, stories
1-3 nap (laundry and dinner prep for me)
3:30 snack, playtime until DH gets home (I use this time to do yard chores)
4:45 - dh is home, dinner
5:30-7 errands, playtime, chores, walk the dog
7:30 bath and bed
8 - read, tv, general pick up
9:15 bedtime for us
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
6AM: I wake up, pack DH's lunch, bump, eat breakfast 6:30-7: Kids wake up 7-8: Tidy up the house while the kids eat breakfast and fully wake up 8:30-10: at the Gym, kids in gym child care 10-11:30: Depends on the day, run errands, play at home, library 11:30 - Lunch 12-3 Nap time, more in depth cleaning, work on projects, etc. 3-4: Play time 4:30-5: Dinner 5-6: Time with daddy while I clean up from dinner, finish any tasks I didn't get to earlier 6: Bath time 6:30 DS's bedtime routine 7: DS in bed 7:30-8: DD's bedtime routine and DD in bed 8-10ish: My time to do what I want before bed
Our schedule is drastically different this summer with a newborn and me on ML (I usually work 3 days/week)
6:30ish- DD1 is usually up, plays in her room or sits on my bed with me while I nurse DS, DH gets up, he leaves by 7:30. DD2 is up by 8am, we are all dressed and downstairs usually by 8:30
8:30-9:30 breakfast, then girls watch TV while I nurse DS again, I usually eat/have coffee while he nurses
10- out of the house usually for activities, playdates, meeting my mom at her pool, whatever and we are usually out for the bulk of the day at the pool, park etc. Neither girl naps so we don't have to rush home. I either pack a lunch, we eat at my mom's (she has a community pool with lots of kids) or we get something out. Maybe once a week we stay home.
5pm- usually home by now, girls shower and get into PJs then watch TV (depends on behavior and how much they watched in the AM/play together while I nurse DS and then cook
6pm - dinner, sometimes DH is home, most likely not
7pm - DH home by now, he plays with the girls, reads to them and puts them to bed while I nurse DS, he eats after kids are down (by 7:30 for DD2, by 8 for DD1)
I just had a new baby (he's 2 mos) so reading these is helping me figure out my new routine. He's BFing and I'm trying to get at least 1 pump in a day (I'd like to do 2) along with a shower, activity for DS1, and making sure everyone is fed and dressed... I'm having a tough time - I feel like I am always cleaning!
Anyone else with a toddler (just turned 2) and a newborn? How's your schedule? Is it always off with a BFing baby? Are people showering at night?
If you're looking for ideas of things that we do at home--we do outdoor play with the water table/sand/swings/bubbles, we have a finished basement that's a playroom that had a climber/slide, trampoline and tunnels. We do simple craft projects like making a sheep with cotton balls, finger painting, coloring, etc. play doh is a huge hit here and we also make moon dough on occasion (google it for suggestions). We read lots of books. We do lots of puzzles.
