Do Gap maternity jeans shrink in length?

Any info on Gap maternity jeans would be great.  The ankle length fit perfect, but if they so much as shrink 1mm they will look silly.  The regulars are long on me.  Any advice?  I am looking for a pair of jeans to wear with flats/tennis shoes so no heels with this pair and I don't do skinny jeans:-)

Re: Do Gap maternity jeans shrink in length?

  • Hi,

With my first pregnancy I lived in Gap Maternity clothes. It seemed to be the only brand that was flattering on me! I don't remember them shrinking, but before you buy them be sure to ask the sales associate. If they say they won't shrink, but they do anyways, bring them back. The Gap stores in my area are always really nice about returns (keep your receipt). I once returned a pair of khakis after I had worn them once because while wearing them, I noticed a small hole. They accepted the return/exchange with no problem.

  • All my maternity pants have shrunk which makes it tricky bc not all pants come in long.  Regular are just right until I wash them, then they look silly.  I say get the regular and worse case, get a removable hem put in.

  • i lived in gap maternity with my first pregnancy...  SO comfy!  i don't specifically remember about the length, but i'm tall and i got longs, and they ended up fitting me correctly.

i do own several regular gap jeans and they do shrink slightly if i dry them.  i'd say if you're concerned about them shrinking, just wash on cold and hang dry 100% of the time to minimize any length changes.
  • I'm in the exact same boat!  I love my Gap maternity jeans!  I had to return the regular length, but the ankle ones are perfect but I just know if I wash them they are going to shrink.  I'm planning on paying for dry cleaning :-P
