Irrationally annoyed

For C's birthday yesterday, both ILs, my sil and my BFF all called/texted messages for him. Nothing from my parents except a Facebook post from my mom on her wall saying Happy birthday C.

I know he's 2 but it would have been nice for some sort of acknowledgment other than FB from my mom.

Anyone else?

Do they live close enough that they could have visited? Even then, its still nice to get a card.

They live OOT and plan to visit next month so I didn't expect a card. They sent a gift that arrived yesterday but I'm saving it for them to give him when they are here. They knew the day. I was just hoping for a 30 sec phone call.

Awww that's just not right, they should have called, like u said just to say happy birthday, it's not like your son checks your Facebook lol

My ILs didn't acknowledge G's 2 at all. No card, no gift, no phone call or email. It was particularly annoying to me because they made the effort to bring J a gift at her birthday party 2 weeks before. They are so hit or miss J told me last summer "they mean well, but they aren't very reliable, huh?". It broke my heart.

That is when it is most heartbreaking - when the kids themselves notice and just take it in stride.

She's wise beyond her years. She had such a rough start in life. She's quite the mix of innocence and jaded street smarts. She sizes people up really well.

I have a cousin about her age that has a crappy dad who promises everything and delivers nothing.  She is the same way now when sizing people up.
