1.5 hours into the second day of school.

, I get the dreaded call. You know, the call from the nurse. My child might have chicken pox. The bites I saw this morning have multiplied. I feel like an ass for not knowing.

We are sitting at the peds waiting for an official verdict. I say bites.

Don't get me started on antivaxers!

What kind of bites?  Glad she's ok I'm just wondering if we need to fumigate your house or if she got it outside.

I'm very irritated. I had a $25 copay to find out it was bites. She is highly allergic to insect bites/stings so it amplifies.

We really don't know. We have an exterminator come every 3 months. H and I are bite free. Like I said a bug can land on her and she gets a reaction. She has 6 on her arm, 3 on her head, and a few other places.

LO gets an ear infection/ cold every fall when he returns to daycare.  This then results in me having to leave teacher workshops/ go pick him up and be home with him for 24+ hours because he had a fever.  I seriously want to call the pedi and just ask for a prescription now so I can give it to him the minute he starts back to daycare.

I was like that as a kid too.  It did lessen as I grew up.

I hope you didn't think I was implying that your house was dirty- I know better than that!

I didn't think that at all. Bugs can get into any home. It is nature.Plus, I live in Georgia. Ants are going to take us over one day. I have bagged all of her stuffed animals and started washing her bedding.  I don't see anything.

Just out of curiosity, the require the varicella vaccine or proof of chicken pox here to attend school here. Is that not the case in GA?

Allie doesn't have all of her vaccines. She had most of her vaccines. She had RSV which delayed her vaccine schedule. She had a major reaction to her boosters. She was scheduled to get her second shot at her 5 year appointment, but couldn't get it due to the reactions from the other vaccines.

Oh yeah. I remember now that you mention it. I was just wondering because the school nurse was so quick to jump to chicken pox. It's always way down on my list of suspects.
