Google your SN. If personal information pops up, change it.. There are way too many people who prey on this. Sure, most of us use it to be catty or assholes. The truth, there is someone out there who use it to be malicious. I've been around long enough to see people have their weddings ruined, homes broken into, employers notified, etc. Hell, I published a junk email and got porn.

A quick google search and I had a phone number and address of a current poster. I know what she does in her spare time. I know more about her than most of my first cousins. (Which is saying something)

ETA:  I used to make this a regular habit to be safe, and there isn't much out there on me, but this is how I found out one of my friends declared bankruptcy and apparently reallllllly pissed off her wedding florist (vendor made a whole hate site devoted to her and posts bashing said florist on TK).

My old username just came up with tons of posts from The Knot, lol. This username is the same name as a song so all that really pops up are song lyrics and band info.

ETA: Google Images does pull up my avatar and ticker but thankfully that's it!

I assume these other women/girls are people whose real name is actually Lucy, which isn't the case for me.
