Independent baby

my baby seems so independent!  Just right now she yelled at me and wouldn't play...until I put her in her crib by herself where she began to giggle and babble to herself...still in there, babbling and love it.

She doesn't really like cuddling, doesn't really want to be "held" so much as want to be up in the air to see things-doesn't want to sleep on my chest, sleeps the worst when i'm holding her (much better by herself) and really enjoys self play with some interaction from me. It's nice in the middle of the night when she wakes up that she laughs and loves to babble to herself and doesn't wake me up, but dads when I want baby cuddles!

DS acts the same way when it comes to sleeping. He lets me rock him right before bed, but only while he is having his bottle. After that, he wants nothing to do with it and will wiggle around and fuss in my arms until I put him down. Some evenings (like tonight!) I get really lucky and when I put him on my shoulder to burp him he nestles his head in and starts to doze off. It's the best. But, it rarely happens anymore. I agree, it's nice that they can entertain themselves and aren't extremely clingy, but man do I miss some snuggling!

My daughter is the SAME way! I love that she is independent, but I also absolutely love the rare occasions when she lets me cuddle and rock her.
