Sorry I am a lurker not a writer, I have been here the whole time

I had my 33 week check up today and the Dr asked if I was interested in donating the placenta? Has anyone done any research on this? Thoughts? The company they gave me info from has a website called www.placentadonation.com. It sounds like a good choice but since I had not heard of it before today I was just looking for more info. My google searches are coming up with info on cord blood not placenta donations.
Thanks!
Edit: Since the update my signature dropped half my info. I am 33 weeks today EDD Sept 24 with a RCS scheduled for Sept 17.
Re: Placenta Donation Question
I am guessing its for medical research but I have no idea. To me if they want it they can have it because I'm not using it!
Human amniotic membrane has been used for various types of reconstructive surgical procedures since the early 1900s. In surgery, amniotic membrane can be used as a foundation material for soft tissue healing, or as a natural biological barrier at the surgical site. Currently, amniotic membrane is experiencing widespread use in the area of ophthalmic (eye) surgery, and it is showing great promise in the areas of dentistry, wound healing, and sports medicine.
