Loss of sex drive?

My twins will be 6 months old in a week. I have had NO desire to have sex since they have been born. I EBF and am beginning the process of introducing solids now. After reading a bit, I think it could just be from low estrogen because of breastfeeding. I have my annual OB appointment on Monday and I was going to ask her then.

I just wanted to see if anyone else is in the same boat or went through something similar and maybe if you wanted to share advice/encouragement.

Thanks!

Re: Loss of sex drive?

  • Honestly, sex was absolutely repulsive to me until a few weeks after weaning. Not only was I (TMI) super dry, but the thought of physical intimacy was enough to make me sick to my stomach. Despite that, I found that my sex drive rebounded in spades once my estrogen rebounded. My OB had warned me about the low sex drive, so I was prepared.

I don't think you have any reason to be concerned, but you can mention it to your OB. One of my good friends ended up using Estrace suppositories to improve things.

  • Thanks ladies! I should also mention that I have a 2 1/2 yo son and I BF him for a year. I never had this much of an issue. I was also wondering if BFing twins makes estrogen even lower than BFing a singleton?

  • I am having the same issue and was wondering the same thing about the BFing. We are starting the weaning process so I'm hoping that will fix things.
