Anyone practice EC here? I ECd Michael for a while starting at 4 months. But gave up due to life stress. I plan on ECing the new baby from birth. Anyone using this potting meathod?
Thanks. I actually had read about that and thought it was interesting, but impossible to do if you're not a stay-at-home mom. Curious if anyone will reply who has tried it.
We do it with our very part-time with my son. He wears disposable diapers. We offer him chances to go on the potty. He now signs potty and makes a "psss" noise. Doesn't actually go half the time he wants to sit on the potty, but it's a start. We make it very low stress.
Ditto to the two stories posted above. We started part time at 3 months, only doing it when it was convenient (usually at diaper changes) and then around 15 months he started signing, 16 months he used the "sss" noise, and at 18 months we're now out of diapers (still plenty of accidents, but getting better every week).
It's definitely do-able part time, just explain to your baby what you're doing and why you're doing it part time and I think it has a huge effect.
My worry is if I do it part time I will give up and just stop after 6m or so. I'm kind of an all or nothing personality. I plan on buying Diaper Free Baby. And becoming a part of the community on the website. I've just been seeking out people who do it while waiting to have the money for the book and community.
I haven't read the whole book, but I'm curios to know how you actually do it. I had read that you hold LO up over the toilet in some funky position and it was really hard for me to visualize. So can anyone give me a little real life insight?
We've been pottying our 4 month old for a couple months now. My partner was a bit reluctant at first, but at this point it's more stressful to have to clean up a full on poop diaper than to potty him. We still have lots of pee diapers, but very little poop finds its way into the diaper. My LO will whine to go potty when he has to poop. If we're not in a place where we can take him, we just put him in the position to help him go and change the diaper. My partner is a SAHD, so that does make things easier. But when we take him to the babysitter, he just goes in the diaper. When he gets older and more insistent on going in the potty, we may try to find a new sitter, though.
For anyone who wants to find support on doing EC part time, I recommend Tribal Baby at parttimenappyfree.com I found some really good info there when I was getting started.
Re: EC
I have not tried it, but I wanted to. Hard to do when Daycare isn't really on board.
You don't have to do it full time.
I read diaper-free-baby and really liked it.
