Grovia shells with prefolds?

We have one grovia shell that I purchased before DD was born (and before I really understood how the grovia system worked).  I only use it as a cover for prefolds... But should this be a one-time use cover?  It has that fabric-y mesh stuff on the inside so I wasn't sure... Anyone use these as covers?

I use them with prefolds and love them. I normally alternate between 2 covers throughout the day so the mesh can dry before reusing it.
