appointment scheduling

at the OB office and my appointment was scheduled for 5. it's now 5:45 I understand having to wait 10 maybe 15 minutes to be seen but really dude... wtf??? 45 minutes and still nothing, it's dinner time fat girl gotta eat. anyone else feeling less patient these days?

Re: appointment scheduling

  • I'd have been pissed. Seriously, I understand some people need a little extra time with the Doctor but c'mon, 45 minutes is just ignorant.

  • My old OB (with my first) was the worst with making patients wait. I appreciated the time she gave her patients, but it would be longer than 45 minutes sometimes. There would be a wait in the waiting room AND a wait in the exam room. The later in the day, the worse it was. I couldn't go in the mornings, but I would shoot for as early as possible.

Now, I aim for 8:00 or 8:30, minimal waiting.

  • Maybe there was an emergency earlier and he's just behind. If that's the case, they should have told you, but they are very busy & every mom to be thinks they are the docs first priority.

  • 45 min is about avg for me every time- it's annoying but now I just come to expect it :/ I think it's normal??? But not sure the friends I talk to all seem to have about the same wait
  • I've been told that its better to schedule morning/early appts because once a doc gets behind it snowballs and after noon appts just get later and later. I am so not a morning person but schedule my ob appts for no later than 10:20, because after that thewait times creep into the 45-1hr mark. I've actually waited 2 and a half hrs for my specialist before.

    Lesson, always carry snacks. :-bd

  • while morning appointments are ideal, they just don't work for me due to my work schedule. 10-4 on the snacks ;;)
  • I had a morning appointment today at 9:15. I waited for an hour! The doctor wasn't delivering or anything. I was pissed, so I definitely understand where you are coming from. It sucks having to wait longer then actual appointment.

Yup - I have never had to wait less than 30 mins for my doc. They double-book appointments and since his office is in the hospital, he is often running down to deliver babies. He's also alone in the practice, so there is no one else to see patients. It's very annoying, but I chose him for important reasons, so I deal with it.

  • I'm seen at the hospital on post so it's an expected wait of anywhere between 30 minutes and an hour.
