Sleeping positions?

Just curious but when did everyone start letting their little ones sleep on their belly?

My LO will only sleep on his belly. He screams and screams on his back. It makes for sleepless nights for me and my husband as we are constantly watching him

DD1 slept on her stomach starting at a few days old.

Mine will sleep on his back, but seems to sleep better and longer on his belly.

We started putting dd on her belly to sleep shortly after we came home from the hospital. She will not sleep on her back and hated being swaddled. She sleeps perfectly fine.

When they can roll themselves over. Yes, they sleep perfectly fine on the tummy. However, there is a reason the SIDS rates came down after the back to sleep campaign started. It's just not worth it to me. I know our daycare is required to do flip them to their backs until they're six months.
