Transition not happening...

We are trying to transition DD into her pack n play. She seems to not sleep as sound in that as she does in the rock n play. I may just break down the pack n play and try the crib. She has to sleep in our room cause my FI half brother moved in after his father died. So hearing her grunt and whine doesn't help us sleep. Plus, if my short term disability isn't approved for another week I go back to work on Thursday. :( DD will be 6 weeks Thursday for those on mobile.

Anyway, any pointers?

  • How would you safely prop it up?

  • Are you swaddling tight or using Swaddle Mes? We were having a horrible time transitioning LO from her newborn napper (curved) in the PnP to her crib (flat) and I started using a Swaddle Me with arms in (which I didn't think she would like) and she sleeps 5 hours at a time now (she's 8 weeks). She fought the arms in slightly but then fell asleep really quickly and stays asleep. Good luck!

  • I just transitioned my LO from rnp to cosleeper and although he falls asleep good his stretches have definitely shortened which sucks but I know it has to be done we swaddle with a swaddle me and then and A&A blanket we have also taken the wheels off one side to elevate it slightly. I'm not sure how to elevate a pnp but lots of people do GL lady

  • To elevate our bassinet mattress we just put 4 DVD cases under the top part staggered.  Although we were able to take them out after a week or so and now he sleeps flat (at night only - during the day he will only nap in his swing).

  • Get a crib wedge to elevate one end of the mattress. Make sure she's warm and swaddled (arms in if she likes it, arms out if not). You can also try warming the mattress before you lay her down (with a water bottle or heating pad).

  • Our LO definitely prefers sleeping with us than in her pack and play so we are still working on getting her to sleep in there.  The first week or two home she had no problem sleeping in it but since then...she doesn't seem happy to be in there so I'm interested in the advice you will get on this on because it might help us out too.

@Kari5186 the MIL is actually very helpful. I still don't like her bipolar and not being on meds. But once I get back to work I'll be giving notice and go work for my mom. I'll be bringing the baby with me. She's watched her a few times for short spurts and all seems well.

His brother starts 10th grade at the end of August. So that's great news. I still hate that the baby no longer has a room. Our room is now super crowded. But we will revisit what happens with them when our lease is up in January

    Thank you for asking!
