Bleeding/Low Temp Fever After Miscarriage

We went to the doctor on Tuesday to have our first ultrasound, only to find out that the baby did not have a heartbeat. I was supposed to be a little over 10 weeks and the baby had died sometime in the 8th week. I was going to take misoprostol to help speed up the process, but it actually started to happen on its own. I ended up passing the baby on Thursday night around midnight. I have been bleeding ever since. It tends to come and go throughout the day and today I had a low temp fever of 99.1. How long is the bleeding supposed to last and is the temperature normal. I tried to call my doctor on his cell, but he has not called me back yet.

Sorry for your loss. I don't have any advice on the temp. Hopefully your doctor will call you back shortly. Take care of yourself.

I had a d&e but I would think the information I received for my discharge would be similar to a natural miscarriage.  My instructions stated to notify my doctor if my temp was more than 100.  I don't think you need to worry about your low grade temp at this point.  There was another thread that pertained to a 99.1 fever from Friday that you could refer back to as well.  I don't recall exactly what her doctor told her.  As far as the bleeding does, my situation was slightly different but I bled for 7 days.  It ended with a bang, tons of blood clots, and then hardly anything after that.  I am sorry for your loss.  Miscarriages suck!  This board has been very helpful for me as I grieve and process my loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  Sending extra ((Hugs)) your way.  I ended up having a D&C, but not after trying misoprostol twice (with no effect for me).  The instructions I received from my doctor before taking the misoprostol were that I should call immediately if I was soaking through two pads (the large kind) within one hour, and that happened for two hours in a row.  She didn't mention anything about a low grade fever, though she did say that the bleeding could be steady for days, even up to weeks, or intermittent, depending on my body.  I hope your doctor is able to get back to you soon!

So I just got back from the ER. My D&c was Monday and I started bleeding tonight a lot and had a lot of cramping.

After an u/s to double check everything they said come back if I developed a fever or went through a pad an hour. Take some motrin and call the doctor in the morning to follow up.
