march mamas- bedtime routine?

How many ladies have a consistent bedtime routine with specific steps? At 4.5 months we are a little relaxed still....

Re: march mamas- bedtime routine?

  • We are relaxed. We follow his cues. He is usually tired between 8 and 9. We change diaper, swaddle, bottle of BM, rock, then crib. Nothing too crazy. Works for us. If we try and get him to sleep before he is ready it doesn't work.

  • DS will be 5 months on 8/13 and he pretty much set his own bedtime early on, around 8 weeks old. He gets really tired and lets us know that he's ready around 7-7:30. We follow his cues. From there, we both take him into his room, change him, turn on his white noise, and put on his sleep sack. Then he has his last bottle while I rock him in the dark. I burp him when he's finished and then lay him down awake in his crib. He sucks his thumb and is out within 10 minutes. He sleeps from about 7:30 - 5:30 or 6:00 am. I've been able to put him down awake for the past 4-5 weeks or so.
  • At around 7:30 i go downstairs to his room, change diaper, put him in pjs and sleep sack, nurse in the rocking glider for about 15 min then bounce on the exercise ball for 5 minutes, then my husband usually transfers him to the crib.  He used to sleep pretty consistent going to bed at 8pm then waking up at 2am for feed then sleep till 6 or 7am to wake up for the day.  but since he turned 4 months he has been waking up 2-3 times a night:(

  • We've just recently implemented a "routine". DS just turned 5 months old. Around 8:30 we have a bath (not always with soap, just to rinse off and have the routine), then lotion, PJs, and by that point he's usually fussing because he's tired. Lights off, bottle, and he usually falls asleep with the bottle. Every other night or so we trim his nails, on off nights he goes to the crib almost asleep and pat his bottom til he falls asleep. He's usually out until 7/7:30 the next morning.
  • We had a great routine from about 4 weeks-18 weeks. Then it all went to hell with the 4 month wakefuls, which I'm secretly ecstatic about because now we bed share. These days, we just hang out in bed until she falls asleep nursing. It's my favorite time of day. She'll be 5 months tomorrow.

  • we're fairly relaxed in the routine itself..usually in bed by 7, up around 6. Sometimes we bathe, sometimes we don't. I think we might be switching the bottle with the bath/book time, and giving her her bottle around 630-645 instead of bath first because she gets awfully cranky, but she's wide awake when we put her down for her bedtime after she eats, so I'm assuming it's hunger. She goes down wide awake for naps and puts herself to sleep so it shouldn't be problem switching .

  • we have a loose routine I would say... she is normally down somewhere between 7-8, and up anywhere between 6-7.  We start with a bath, which DH does, then lotion & PJs, and then I nurse her to sleep.  I usually let her sleep in my arms for a bit then put her down in the PNP for the night.  There have been a few nights lately where she doesn't fall asleep nursing, and I've been able to put her down awake with a binky and she falls asleep on her own.  I agree with PP, bedtime is my favorite :)  She gets bath time with daddy and then snuggles with mommy.  I will be sad when we don't do this routine anymore...

  • At 4 months we're still a little relaxed.  It always involves a bath or wipe down, feeding and rocking (to drowsiness and not complete sleep though this just started this weekend and yes I feel like I accomplished a huge milestone!).  Sometimes I'll do songs or a book to get her to relax but she's usually ready to pass out between 7:30 and 8:30 each night.  My mom and MIL watch her while DH and I are at work so they do lots of activities with her and get her lots of fresh air (which always makes her sleepier).
  • At about 5:30 we give him a bath, then he gets a bottle. And he is usually ready to sleep about 6-6:30. He only wakes up once a night to eat then back to sleep until 6-7am. He always kind of did it on his own since he was born
  • Our routine goes like this:
    Boob
    Bath
    Book
    Bed
    He sleeps 7pm-6am.
  • We have a pretty good routine which usually starts around 7. Most nights she gets a bath, then book, boob and then she goes in her crib. Most of the time she is asleep and some of the time she is drowsy but awake when we put her in her crib. We are usually done by about 8 and she sleeps until 630 or 7.

  • Right now we are a bit relaxed yet, but are getting to the point where we need to get LO to realize he needs to fall asleep on his own without being rocked to sleep or nursed. Right now it's usually, put jammies on, read a book, nurse, rock to sleep. This whole process will probably take an hour.

This is us exactly! People tell me I am doing it to early but it's what time it's always been.
