Trouble TTC

RE appt tomorrow

Tomorrow is our first appt with the RE about DH's SA and my short (6-9 days) LP. Any advice? Any specific questions I should ask? What should I be prepared for?

Re: RE appt tomorrow

  • Good advice above. We asked about costs for testing and what testing they do, and the same about treatments and monitoring. Our first appt was also very long, around 2 hours, because they had us meet with a bunch of people in the office. Good luck!

  • I would expect that they will give you the run down on calling on CD1 to begin a cycles worth of testing. My RE had me do a medical history on paper before I arrived, but then we reviewed it all when I got there anyway. I would be sure to take any and all history/documentation you have of yourself and your husband. Oh, and at my meeting I rally wanted to discuss what potentially we could do, but my RE didn't want to discuss any of that until she had completed testing. So don't be alarmed if you just talk about the testing procedure and not potential treatments.

  • Thanks everyone. Our appt went really well and the doctor is super nice and funny. Like you all said I have to call on CD 1 to make an appt for an HSG and get bloodwork done CD2-4. My concern is that I'm a teacher so the HSG will be scheduled for the first week or 2 back at school and I can't take time off at that point, but I'll worry about that as it gets closer and I get my class schedule for the year. Maybe I'll be able to work something out with my principal. DH is going to see the urologist on Sept 11 to set up a plan for him, but at the moment he is not continuing with his testosterone.

The doctor mentioned that the urologist would probably want him off the testosterone for 3-4 months before going on something else, is this common? Should I push to have him on something else right away at his new appt?
