Bottle now or wait a week? And BFing while traveling

DH and I are moving back to CA from MN at the end of this month (around the 23rd). During the drive I will BF when possible but also want the option of a bottle so I can pump while DH drives and we don't have to stop quite as much. Bear is 3 weeks old tomorrow. I'm wondering if t would be better to introduce the bottle now or wait one more week. Also, our doctor said she knows many moms who have done the boob dangle into the carseat to feed. Has anyone dne this ith a 6 week old before?

I think it's fine to give her bottles now. Honestly, this "nipple confusion" thing seems a little overblown to me. DD was given a bottle a couple times while I was recovering from delivery and she has no issues BFing.

I agree with the poster about boob dangling being unsafe.

The boob dangle can be done while belted in. It is a little difficult.

However, it would be easier to pump. I think you would be safe waiting a week to introduce a bottle. It's not something they have to get used to.

We gave Lucas bottle for the first time at three weeks and he gulped it right down. We've gone back and forth between bottles and breastfeeding without any difficulty at all.

Three months seems too late from everyone I've spoken to. Plus. how realistic is that? Most women I know are lucky if they can take the full 12 weeks off to be with baby before going back to work !

Yeah, I'm back in school and my other job (the one I can't take Barrett to) at the end of the month. I would love to be able to go 3 months but its just not realistic.

Please don't feed your baby while he is in the car seat! Not only is it unsafe for you, but if your LO starts to choke it would be very hard to get him out quickly.

I'll ditto the PPs- I pumped from right breast and bottle fed, while feeding directly from left breast during the same session.. no nipple confusion whatsoever..
