Weight training

DH and I finished P90X a few weeks ago and I am figuring out my new workout routine. I plan to do resistance workouts twice a week for about 30 minutes each. For abs, I will keep using the P90X ab workout so I don't need to plan for that.

What do you all do for resistance training? I will be doing it at home but we have resistance bands and dumbbells and we have a pull up bar. My plan right now is to cobble together exercises from a few different sources but if anyone can recommend a workout, that would probably be better. Thanks!

I go to boot camp classes at the gym. There are a lot circuit workouts for home on pinterest. Peanut Butter Fingers blog has a bunch of workouts you can do at home.

I just downloaded some apps. One is called free legs, one is free abs, etc. You can select what you have to work with and what intensity level.

  • I do a 3 day split at the gym: back/biceps, chest/triceps/shoulders, legs/abs. Each day takes me approx 30-60 min.

I used this website to come up with exercises. You can sort by the equipment you have available.

  • I just bought Tony Horton's 10 Minute Trainer that has a bunch of 10 Minute workouts. Haven't used it yet, but I think it'll be good and am excited to use it. There's another beachbody workout that just came out called T25 with workouts that are 25 minutes long. I'm reading really good things about it and would get it if I didn't just buy the other one.

  • Thanks all for the help. Sorry I am just now coming back to respond.

@Angela814 thanks for suggesting bodybuilding.com. I decided to do Jamie Eason's at home workout (https://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/jamie-eason-livefit-12-week-trainer-at-home-workout-pull-day.html). I did it for the first time today and I really like it. I have never used a stability ball with weights before. I like that it engages your core more while you do the exercises. I adapted the workouts slightly by cutting out the abs since I do the p90x ab workout and taking out some of the duplicative exercises and I think it will only take me about 30 minutes to do.

@CrazyMary77 I didn't know about the Tony Horton 25 minute workouts. I will definitely look into those in the future. I really like the P90X workouts but they are so long! Thanks again!
