Scared to have another

I was an only and I feel like I missed out on a lot.But the catch is I have terrible anxiety that can only be treated by xanax which s a drug that cannot be taken during pregnancy. I'm scared that I will totally freak out during a second pregnancy without it.

    Did you feel this way with your first pregnancy? I'm scared to have a third child and I never felt this way until after my second when I had a really hard pregnancy. I think it really comes down to how bad you want a other baby and how bad the issue is and if you personally can handle it for 9 months. I know I couldn't deal with the complications I had again but if I would have had a normal pregnancy we probably would have a third child.

    I was miserable. I went to therapy, but it didn't help much.

    Only you know how nine months without meds will be. But if you really want a second I think you need to decide if nine months without medication is worth it. Nine months is t long in the grand scheme of things BUT felt like an eternity when I was pregnant.

    It is something you should talk to DH and your doctor about.

    I know I'm not very liked over here, but I lurk... and I had to reach out...

    I understand 10000000%.  I am on xanax for panic and anxiety.  We are trying for #2 and it FREAKS ME OUT that I might not be able to take something during pregnancy for the anxiety.  I spoke with my doctor (who consulted my OB) about this and they said Buspirone (Buspar) is completely safe during pregnancy and nursing... it claims to be akin to xanax.  I have the Rx for it but haven't tried.  I have heard good things though - https://www.rxlist.com/buspar-drug.htm

    ??  I dont even remember you being on this board?  Why would you say that?

    Also, the alternate drug sounds good!  I hope it works for you and OP, ask your doctor!
