How long do you let you LO whine?

I put DD up to bed about 15 minutes ago, and she's been flopping around her crib whining since then. How long do you ladies let your LOs whine and fuss before going in to help (nurse, rock, whatever)? She's not crying, just doing her annoyed EEEHHHHH EEEEHHHHH, I think because she's tired but can't stop rolling around.

We've been doing 5 minute increments... But we don't take her out of the crib. If she's whining, I only go in if she's sitting or standing up - because otherwise she'll stay like that indefinitely. I lay her down, pop in the paci, put her stuffed giraffe next to her, and I'm out the door... About 20 seconds. We usually don't have to go in more than once or twice before she passes out.

I do 10 minute increments. We've gone through sleep training though. DS doesn't use a pacifier, so if I go in I just rub his back and shhh him for a few seconds then I'm out. I only go in if he is truly crying though. My DS does a sleepy whine, so If he's just whining I don't go in because he can usually put himself to sleep.

That's pretty much what we do (5-10 min increments, sometimes longer if she's kind of dozing and waking up). It's just tough because sometimes she sounds REALLY annoyed, then fusses for so long she ends up getting to the point where she needs another diaper change, so I have no choice but to go in because she absolutely HATES having a wet diaper, even if it's just a little wet. 

It seems like now, getting her to sleep isn't the issue, it's getting her to STAY asleep. She's (I think) going through a regression, so she went from sleeping 8-5, wake up to eat, then back down for another 2 hours, to being up at 12, 3, and 5. I'm not sure if I should try and break her of that just yet or wait til she starts crawling and hopefully comes out of this regression. I'm kind of hoping it'll fix itself, but that may just be wishful thinking.

I give him a good 10 minutes if he isn't really crying but just whining. Usually he'll just fuss around for a little bit and then go to sleep. Otherwise I go in and rub his back for a minute to calm him.
