Trying to Get Pregnant

Pull out babies anyone?

DH aren't actively trying to conceive just yet. We are going to start in November, however, I got off BCP so I could start tracking my cycles. We've been using condoms and the pull out method. We are both in the mindset that we aren't actively trying but if something happens and we do get pregnant, we will be happy. Anyone have or know of anyone conceiving with the pull out method? I know it can happen. I just thought it'd be fun to hear from yall and see how often it really does happen. TIA! :)

  • I've been of BC since April and we have been preventing using the pull out method. No BFP! We are starting this month TTC.

  • So your asking how likely it is you can avoid a baby with the pull out method? Umm...this is TRYING to get pregnant board.

  • Thanks LadyBoston. Good luck to you and your DH!

This wasn't meant to be mean spirited. Sorry. I figured there would be people who have had babies previously and were back on the board for another pregnacy, as well as first timers. That's the reason I posted it here.

I'm a first timer in that I have no kids but I'm still not pregnant despite 'leaving it in' each month. So no, I don't have experience getting pregnant from the pull out. I also have no experience getting pregnant from doing everything you're supposed to, either.
Sorry it's taking so long for you. :( I wish you plenty of baby dust in the coming months. I have PCOS so I may have the same problem.

  • @nannabee21 As the other ladies said this isn't the best board to be asking how one got pregnant.

Maybe try going to 1st Tri.? I can kind of see where you're going with thinking TTC would be a good place but honestly it will not be well received here. Also there's no baby dust in this forum.

Plus everybody has learned from high school that the only 0% chance way to not get pregnant is to just not have sex, every other way can lead to pregnancy. Even if you're on BC, have a depo, use condoms, ect. ect. nothing is 100% preventative. Especially not pull out.

Good luck with your future TTC.

My DH and I used withdrawl for 4 years. No babies

Is OP hoping to get pregnant via withdrawl because her DH isn't quite on board with TTC yet?

Yeah. I'm going to guess that no one here on the TRYING to get pregnant board is using the pull out method.

Those that are tta while learning to chart may be here

  • Why in the fucking hell would you think this board would be a good place for this question?

  • I know lots of people who have PnP babies so it can definitely happen although it worked for me for several years. Definitely wouldn't use it as a full proof method though, not that you are.

  • Yes, I have a few co-workers that have gotten pregnant using the "pull and pray" method. You only need one sperm to reach the egg, and pre-ejaculate has the highest concentration of sperm.

That sounds like bullshit to me. I read the only time live sperm is in pre cum (I hate that word) is if the guy ejaculates then keeps going without flushing his urethra out by peeing or something.
  • I wasn't going to say anything about this but it just keeps hanging out around te top of the board. really? Why would I know anything about pnp fails? I guess one can be hopeful that it happens sooner than later... Hope you're taking your pnv. Good luck?

  • I've used the pull out method before while TTA, along with tracking my cycles on FF. There were a couple times I took a Plan B as caution, but I did not get pregnant. Obviously it's not 100% effective, of course.

Haha I kinda did too. Totally different discussion. Not sure that even 3rd tri would know what to do with that.

My first was "pulled out" (forceps and a vacuum) and it hurt like a bitch, yo! The title just made me cringe at the memory.

I'll just say one thing and then we can stop talking about it. Just the word forceps scares me. It sounds like a torture device. Blegh.

haha no, she overheard my DH say something about the pull and pray method and gave her story. It was not your typical grandma conversation!

Oh my grandmother would always tell the story of how my mother was conceived because the condom broke.... lets just say my mother and I will never be the same after that story (that she has told a few times!)  Sometimes you just get to much information!  BLAH
