A few times tonight, LO has shook his head side to side. He's never done it before. Teething (he got 2 teeth in May, then 4 in July)? Ear infection? Think I should take him to the doctor?

Re: shaking head

  • Does he seem unhappy? If not its probably a new fun trick he figured out. DD does the same thing with her head sometimes.

  • I would only be concerned if he seems upset while doing it. DD does this all the time, but laughs and thinks she is hilarious. She usually gets a reaction so she keeps doing it.

  • A dances this way. He doesn't move his body, just shakes his head side to side when music is on. I agree with pp's don't worry about it if he seems fine and comfortable.

  • J just learned this trick yesterday, she doesn't do it a lot, but she thinks it's funny when she does.

  • Amir had learned that shaking your head means no. It's great for communication but sucks when trying to get stuff done

  • DD does this all the time with a little smirk on her face. She thinks she is the funniest girl alive. I wouldn't worry unless he has other symptoms. Maye he is just learning something new :)

  • This is the coolest new move in our house. I'm not sure where they got it from, it's not like I'm constantly telling them no and shaking my head or something. ;)

  • DS does think for "no, no, no", whenever we say "go crazy", and for dancing. It's pretty funny. Unless he seems sick otherwise I wouldn't worry. Sometimes I think he likes making himself dizzy.

  • DS just started doing this too! I thought maybe he's just exploring the things his body can do?
