Sensitive Skin

Ok, I feel like a moron for asking this question because I feel like it's an answer I should know, but I'm going to ask anyway.  My son has insanely sensitive skin and we fight with eczema in his diaper area a lot.  Is it better to use natural fibers against sensitive skin because man-made stuff could be irritating or is it better to use fleece or something against his skin because the wetness could be irritating?

Every baby is different, so the answer to this is really going to take trial and error on your part.

DS has eczema everywhere except his diaper area, but he was very sensitive to wetness during his first few months. So you would think a fleece liner would help. I found using them to be very fussy, and he would complain about being wet anyway. Fleece did not keep him dry enough. He also complained when he was wet in a disposable diaper so I think he was just really sensitive. It was easier to just change his diaper as soon as he was wet. That meant 19 changes a day at that stage, but at least with cloth we never ran out.

I do use the fleece with his fitteds at night, but they weren't the solution for regular changes during the day. YMMV.

Like PP, the best thing for DS was to change him frequently. The natural fibers let his skin breathe more, but if I couldn't change him quickly. the fleece worked better b/c it didn't leave him quite as wet. Probably the best thing that someone told me to do was to use a dry wipe after the wet wipe, then apply diaper cream. Getting the pee off and then drying him made a big difference. Thankfully he outgrew the worst of it by 8 or 9 months, seems like.
