Im bored and like clicky polls.

In your ideal nursery, what color furniture (crib, dresser/changing table) would you have?

Also, feel free to post PIP of your dream nursery.

  • I love colorful walls with furniture!

  • I tend to like medium to dark woods - but for me it all depends on the color of the walls, flooring, etc. It's more about everything balancing each other out than about liking one color over another.

  • I kind of want to do a modge podge project and recycle an old dresser once I find out the gender. Just to make something playful, bright, and personalized.

For the crib I think again it depends on the gender. Maybe white for a girl and a espresso for a boy.

Honestly I don't think I'm going to buy a crib until the baby is 3-4 months old because we will be moving 3 months after the baby is born and I don't see the point of setting it up to take it apart and move it. I'm also not bothering with a traditional changing table.
  • In swaying toward a light grey stained crib that I found, it reminds me of driftwood...but heck it's early yet and I may just change my mind three times before the baby gets here lol
  • For some reason, I like white furniture for a girl and dark brown furniture for a boy.

That's how I feel but we found such a great deal on a set that we could not say no so boy or girl cherry wood it is.

  • I love dark wood for anything. Our home is mostly decorated with dark wood furniture unless we inherited it. So we may do something different for the nursery just to change it up.

Off topic, but I'm glad I can now vote on mobile!

  • I'm not a fan of white or light woods. We'll be going with dark/espresso for baby furniture. We'll be moving shortly after the baby is born, so we won't be buying tons right away. There won't even be a nursery until we move.

  • I love white but my husband wants us to get a crib that can become other beds later and doesn't think white is practical.
  • We have white for my son and I love it' wouldn't have changed a thing!

  • I selected mix of colors.

I don't particularly care for "sets" when it comes to furniture, and we'll likely take whatever hand-me-downs we can get and kludge something together. It all seems quite ephemeral; there's a good possibility we'll be one and done, so it's probably not something we should invest in like some parents.

  • I have dark brown wood furniture and a woodland theme for David's nursery.

For this baby, I'm thinking white furniture, with yellow and aqua for a boy and aqua and pink for a girl.

This is exactly our household too. Although I've heard the white stuff is much harder to keep clean with a toddler, so I'm slowly converting to dark wood too.

  • Right now we have a mishmash. I'm sure I will get around to 'pinteresting' it one day... but for DD we have a dark brown change table and crib, (both new), and a white toybox and dresser (toybox was mine when I was a kiddo, it was in a set with the dresser, which my step mom used up until Chloe was born, when she gave it to us :) )

I'd ideally have them all dark brown I think. We will see.  If this next baby is a girl, I may have to do a white and purple theme in there. :D

  • My daughters room has all white furniture! I love it... It looks bright and cheery and anything goes with it.
  • I just inherited a bunch of walnut furniture, which is not my favorite stain, but it looks good in the nursery, which is pale yellow (it used to be my craft room, so I don't have to repaint) with light wood floors.

  • I love all white! We had all white for our daughter and will definitely use the same for this one no matter if it's a girl or boy.

  • Our house has natural wood/pine trom throughout. The guestroom which will be the nursery currently has cherry/medium wood furniture, which will mostly stay because we dont have room for it anywhere else. So, I'm thinking we'll go with a cherry crib so it'll match the dresser and bed. Unfortunately I dont live in BHG magazine but I'll do my best to make it work.
  • For some reason, I like white furniture for a girl and dark brown furniture for a boy.

Me too!  I am ending up with dark wood this time - we had some leftover pieces in our guestroom that we'll reuse and a friend of mine offered to give me her $700 crib (dark wood) for $150.  It's in fantastic condition, so I bit the bullet.  If it's a girl, I'll just have to deal. *runs off to suck it up*

  • Were doing dark furniture either way. DH is a mechanic and no matter how clean he is he gets mechanic fingerprints everywhere!

We're getting furniture that is gender neutral so we can use it again. :D

  • We've had white for our 1st two girls and if #3 is a girl then we'll have white again.  If it's a boy we'll have a dark espresso.

  • White furniture, classic baby.

Gray and mint with pops of fuchsia for a girl, gray and orange for a boy
  • I like natural woods. I can't find a crib that I love so I am having my husband (who is a professional wood worker) build what I want out of zebra wood. It is light and dark at the same time.
  • I love zebra wood - that will be so cool! And how sweet that its built by daddy. I originally wanted white or gray for the crib but we ended up going with a rather expensive one so I got it in dark wood. It converts to a full bed and I thought it would be most versatile. I love the look of white though!

  • DD's is walnut to match an antique armoire that my grandmother painted in the 70's. For this baby I want to paint an old dresser and I'm thinking we'll go with white.

  • DD's nursery (which will be 2.0's room after moving DD to her big girl room) has a white crib and a lime green dresser.  I bought an unfinished piece and painted it myself.  I love the way it turned out and am excited to be able to keep using the nursery as is for awhile.

  • @Tablefor5 where did you find the grey crib? That sounds nice.

  • I have nothing left from DD. I didn't expect to have more children, well ever. She had a nice natural wood crib that we gave away a couple years ago, even her toddler bed has since been given away. Heck, all her baby and toddler clothes too. I mean, she does turn 6 next month.

Yikes. This post reminds me that I'm starting from scratch.

I'd like a nice dark wood no matter the gender. It stays nice longer!
  • @CruiseGirl28, sorry i just saw your question. I did a google search for a modern contemporary style and found one that was over $900...not looking to take a mortgage out for a piece of furniture..lol I am not that far from an ikea store and they have one that is a simple Ashe grey and it also turns into a toddler bed if that interests you. I think it will go well if we have a boy or girl.
  • Say the best changing table idea it was a desk! Had drawers both sides and was totally unique. A little low but differenet and added some design to nursery
