Blanket while sleeping

Normally I use the RnP and we put a blanket just on her legs as she doesn't move in there. Never had a problem. Tonight we start transitioning her into the PnP and right now she's napping with a blanket just on her legs (watching her like a hawk). If I take it off she cries. I have a swaddle sack but I don't think she likes that. i do like that it has the sack and know those just exist. My stores are out of stock. What would you do for a LO that likes a blanket?

Re: Blanket while sleeping

  • Is it big enough to swaddle with?  If she just likes it on her legs, rather than her whole body, I'd try to swaddle it around her legs rather than leave it loose.  You'd be surprised where a blanket can end up if they kick their legs or fuss.  Though it's probably unlikely to end up over her face, there is always a small chance.

  • I would do just a loose swaddle too just to be safe; especially through the night.
  • We swaddle, and then put another a&a blanket over her, pull it tight and tuck it in both sides and her feet. She's a mover and a shaker and doesn't pull it loose. We pull it up to about neck level. It also keeps her from flailing when she breaks out if the swaddle.
  • With DS1 we tucked the blanket into the sides of the crib tightly so it stretched from one side to the other just to cover his legs and pedi said that was fine

  • We swaddle DS, and prop him sort of on his side/back with a blanket. Did it with dd and it helps, since he's a barfer. If he isn't swaddled, I tuck him in from the waist down, making sure he can't roll on his tummy.
