So for those of you experienced with nub theory or the angle of the dangle do you think boy or girl? It is my 12 week 5 day ultrasound.

  • I think per angle of the dangle that's a girl, but I don't think a bunch of The Bump layperson guesses are going to give you a lot of accuracy :P

I don't think that's the genitailia...looks like a foot to me. You've got to have a pic from underneath the hiney :) BUT just to play along...angled up, in theory, would supposedly be a girl!

Those spread eagle poses are great for 16+ week ultrasounds (when the genitalia is actually formed), but at the 12 week, you're really just looking at the "genital tubercle" - both boys and girls have a protrusion that either becomes the clitoris or the penis.  The angle of the dangle theory says that if the tubercle is parallel to the spine, it's a girl.  If it's at a 45 degree angle, it's a boy.  It's supposed to be extremely accurate when done with a high level ultrasound machine by a technician with experience.

Yes, but usually our tech combines the profile shots in addition to under-the-butt shots to make a more accurate prediction. She was able to correctly identify both of mine using both angles :)

Yeah, are you looking at that white line? Too white to be flesh imo, looks like bone.

  • I am definitely no expert, but I'm gonna guess girl.

If you can find something you posted on, you can still snag it.

Yay, thanks! But it seems my memory sucks. For some reason I remembered gold when it's actually silver. :-/ Still gonna use it though!

Thanks for the input (hilarious and otherwise), I wasn't able to get the other shot. We have the gender ultrasound in three weeks, so I'll give a definite answer then!
