Trying to Get Pregnant

NTTGP related: Speaking of coffee..

So glad that was a topic today on the board because I could really use some suggestions on coffee makers.

My husband's birthday is coming up and I have been wanting to get him a coffee maker. We went from no coffee to loving coffee in a few short years (read: grad school). We spend so much money on coffee out on the weekends when we are away from our work coffee makers that it is just silly. We both like cold/iced coffee best bc it's so hot here, but want the ability to have both for guests. Please recommend your coffee maker. Thanks!

  • Haha. That's also helpful.

  • I don't have anything fancy, just a plain ol' mr.coffee.

  • We also have a Keurig. We love it. I could never get the amount of grounds right when I'd make coffee with a regular coffee maker.

  • We have a Keurig as well and like it. You can use it for a variety of different drinks (tea, hot chocolate, etc). There are iced coffee K-cups out too, so you have the variety of doing either hot or cold.
  • Ditto to the Keurig. And I have the one that dispenses the hot water and I love it so much.
  • Another Keurig user here.  I love it.

  • This is mine! Cuisinart Programmable Coffee Maker

I've had it for about 4 years now and I love it. Kinda pricey but it's worked well for a long time and I expect it to last for several more years. It's programmable, so you can get everything ready at night at it comes on in the morning (not that i ever have my act together enough to do that, lol). Mine has a reusable gold filter, so no buying coffee filters- less $$ and less waste, and it's big enough to make large quantities for when we have guests. The only thing I'm not crazy about is that it's so tall- if it's under any cabinets, you have to pull it away from the wall before you can open the top enough to add water and coffee. That's not a deal-breaker for me, though.

I also have a french press- just the regular Bodum one, I think- that I use when I feel like it.

  • I have a cheapo programmable one that I would like to eventually upgrade to a grind and brew. I love the timer feature so that I can set it up the night before and wake up to a pot brewing. I also have a reusable filter so that I don't ever have to bother with paper filters. I know they also make reusable pods if you decide to go the k cup route.

  • Thank y'all so much! Those are great recs for me to look into.
  • We have the Keurig from Sam's Club. Big water tank and 3 cup sizes. It came with a couple of water filters, a fillable basket in case we want to use our own coffee, and a 12-count variety pack of K-Cups. I think it was $129.

We buy Brown Gold, Organic Coffee Company, and San Francisco Bay cups on Amazon, all for less than 50 cents a cup.

I never thought I'd go for a Keurig, but I love it.
