UO Recap: Happy August Edition

LuckyDadLuckyDad member
edited August 2013 in Parenting

I’m loving the fact that the number of love tits on a post tells me right away if a UO is in fact popular. I’m assuming most people aren’t persnickity enough to be like “I only love it if I think it’s a truly UNpopular opinion...”

I’m lifting my self-imposed ban of recapping food UOs. Don’t make me regret it. ETA: I regretted it. Ban is back on.

Executive Summary:

Hunting Veterinarians, Venison Jerky, Names for body parts during sex, food, marriage.

    Page 1:

acaudill75 feels glazed donuts are far superior to all other donuts. Mixed.

BostonKisses2 thinks scrunchies need to come back in style. Extremely popular, just like she is.

Mom2Oli thinks donuts are nasty. Mostly unpopular.

Brandi Bee still thinks skinny jeans are stupid. Still fairly popular.

Soxgirl07 hates the word cunt. Fairly popular.

sgreen13 is a secretary who is fine with being called a secretary and not an administrative assistant. I like it. To me a secretary is a person who keeps secrets. Sounds all spy and shit.

pearlsonthebeach hates animal print. I think we’ve done this before, it’s always fairly mixed.

CinemaGoddess thinks Mission Impossible 4 is better than the previous 3. I haven’t seen it, but it’s not unusual for a part 4 to be able to go in a new direction and refresh a series.

CinemaGoddess doesn’t want to choose between Chris Pine and Paul Rudd.

kellijo1013 doesn’t fucking like casual use of the word fuck. That’s fucking crazy! I’m not sure she will get along with us. Unpopular. “Swearing is jewelry for sentences” - CinemaGoddess

Packerfan79 doesn’t think veterinarians should hunt. Controversial and Discussion Inducing

Manneek1977 liked the first Aliens v. Predator movie (I thought it was entertaining but flawed, particularly the happy feel good ending). She liked it more than Prometheus or Predator.

kimandhuck doesn’t like tits and pussy and thinks they are unlady-like. Ladies are overrated. Not popular.

shanado thinks just because it’s summer doesn’t mean every single minute of every day has to be filled with fun activities for the kids. SUPER Popular.

M&MHaveMyHeart thinks having a job is overrated. She’s right, but having money is perfectly rated. Fairly popular.

Existentialist thinks dirty talk is unnecessary. It’s not “necessary”, but it can be hella fun. DISCUSSION INDUCING.

Darbie loathes lingerie showers. I’m a lingerie fan, but yeah, the shower aspect seems really unnecessary. Especially if it’s a grown ass woman with a drawer full of lacy underthings. Maybe if the bride is like, 20 or something? Then again, there probably are some ladies who seriously need to upgrade their mojo in that category. But if there is food at booze at the shower, it’s just a party excuse, right?

-more sex talk. It’s Parenting’s third favorite topic behind fangirling and food. fredalina’s H prefers cock. ;)

KlondikeBar is upset people were giving Amanda Berry a hard time for attending a local music festival. Seriously? I hadn’t heard about that but holy shit, that makes me mad. She should go to all the music festivals ever, for free. She deserves to have all the fun and feel normal. And seriously, she’s brave being able to do that. I have to imagine crowds and public spaces where she is vulnerable would make her feel uneasy.

    -deer jerky!

-meat processing talk. The Jungle, anyone? Fast Food Nation? (that book kinda sucked, TBH)

    Page 6:

mandelbread thinks adult women fawning over teen sensations is a bit ridiculous.

mandelbread had a bunch of other minor UOs that have been discussed in recent weeks (50SOG, new format).

kimandhuck likes fruit in desserts. I do too!

jak554 doesn’t like how celebrities set a high bar for how fancy you must be on everything. Or, you could just consider saying “Fuck Kim K and Gwyneth’s overpriced tastes”?

EllaHella hates black tie weddings. I’ve actually never even been to one, because SoCal. Flip-flops are formal wear, yo. Fairly popular

Betsy Scoutkate thinks Waterbugs are sweet and should be named and kept as pets. D’Awwwwwwwwwwww! :)

Manneek1977 thinks RPM was the best season of Power Rangers. ORIGNAL SERIES 4 LYFE! I still wanna Pink Ranger Amy Jo Johnson... I mean... gymnast? :D

    -types of meat we eat

ReeseFox doesn’t think kids should get paid for cleaning their room or doing their laundry. Seemed popular

ReeseFox doesn’t find most of the men posted about here attractive. Nor my taste in ladies.

-oh look, more food talk. Ban reinstated.

    -epidural talk

    Page 9:

Wine O Mite thinks being single is better than being married. Mixed.

Onederful Mother thinks sometimes you just have to resort to name calling. It can be a useful tool, but you have to make sure you keep the high ground and are the more clever one.

LuckyDad thinks the world needs more fun exercise video games like DDR. Somewhat Popular.

sgreen13 thinks Perkins is way better than Waffle House or Cracker Barrel. Perkins is ok, Waffle House is the bomb, yo. Best southern road trip food.

    -more food preferences, guise.

kiraliz2 hates 2+ story houses. But how would I get exercise otherwise? Although in the Summer, man, the upstairs is an oven!

ItsAllGravy7 is super sad for Summer to be over. She also points out how weird it is that it’s the start of August and people are talking about Summer like it’s over already. Fucking back to school shopping and football training camps.

Throw that shit over the railing... no need to carry it down the stairs.

If only that worked for putting it away, too.

Will there be a drain on the floor of the laundry room for if when it floods?

That only works if there are no walls surrounding your stairs PLUS a door that leads to the basement.
I forget about basements. They aren't as common around my parts.

dude @LuckyDad there are whole developments around here with 2 story houses with the washing machine on the second floor and I haven't heard of a flooding epidemic. On the other hand, my mom's flooded my kitchen in my 1 story condo twice now. So, shit can happen anywhere. But a chance flooding < convenience of having my laundry on the same floor as the closets.

We have these sensors too that you put in the pan under the washer, so if it senses water above a certain level, it shuts it off.

Around here, upstairs laundry is more common. Dh(plumber) would agree with you, @Mom2Oli
  • When we lived on the military base our laundry roon was on the 2nd floor. Now our laundry room is on the 1st floor, off from the kitchen.Personally, I prefer one on the first floor. Maybe put in a laundry shoot on the second floor.

  • Our laundry room is on the third floor with the bedrooms

I still haul that shit downstairs so I can sit in front of the TV and fold it.
    I do the same thing!

  • When I'm being really lazy, I'll wash, dry, then just leave in baskets in the laundry room and just throw whatever I'm going to wear for the day in the dryer on the dewrinkle cycle.

I am pretty sure I said Pop. Also, I dislike beer

I don't think those 2 things are going to make me very popular...LOL

I'm pretty sure there are some ladies around here who prefer wine or liquor over beer.

And yes, you said pop. This is not the first time I took mild liberties with a UO.

Like when you said MBenit doesn't understand Autism. Word for word recaps only from now on as to not offend.
If only there was a place you could go to see the word for word record of the UOs...

I did somewhat apologize for the mbenny one. Although it was clear to me where her UO ended and my editorializing began, I accepted that she didn't agree, and I did add two words to make that division much clearer. I don't think she was happy with the end result though.

How old were you when Animaniacs was on?

Have you watched all the episodes to make up for it? Some of the references are a little 90s, but some are KLASSIC!
