Baby Names

What do you think of our girl names?

I don't post a lot on the bump and this is my first post on this board, but I am hoping for some help from complete strangers. :)
We are having a hard time deciding on a name for our baby girl. We have a very common last name so we want something a little unique for the first name, but nothing too weird or crazy where she will have to spell and pronounce her name every single time for the rest of her life.

We are pretty set on Quinn for a middle name. My thought is that Q will be a unique middle initial for her.

I am fully aware that most of these do not meet my criteria above, but this is what we are liking. Thoughts on these? Or other suggestions? Thanks!

Hannah
Charlotte
Aria
Hayden
Harper

Re: What do you think of our girl names?

  • Pretty good list!  I like Charlotte the best followed by Hannah.  Harper and Hayden are a little too trendy for my taste.  I'm not a big fan of Aria.

  • All of your names are pretty popular right now, so I don't know if you're going to get something unique, but I think Aria fits the best for you. It's different but not out there, and less popular than a few of the other names you have.

I don't really love Hayden for a girl, but the others sound good with Quinn.

  • Aria might be a good choice since it's a little less popular than some of the others.  Aria Quinn sounds nice too.  Other suggestions: Autumn, Savannah, Chantal, Juliana.

  • My favorite is Harper. The rest are kind of "meh" for me; perfectly fine names, just not my taste. Hayden's the only one I'd flat-out NO (am I the only one who associates this name with Craig T. Nelson and the '90's sitcom, Coach?).

  • Charlotte.

I would avoid Hayden. Not only does it give her 2 masculine turned unisex names, it sounds nearly identical to the actor Aidan Quinn.

  • Yeah none of those are unique.

I vote for Charlotte then Hannah. With the middle name Quinn, I wouldn't use another unisex first name. I would assume Hayden Quinn to be a boy.

I also have the Coach association, but it was something a bit different and so it went on the list for now. Hayden Panetierre also comes to mind...

Good point about the two masculine names. I hadn't thought of that. And maybe I live under a rock, but I'm not sure who Aidan Quinn is?
  • I really like Arya Quinn (I prefer this spelling).

Well, maybe this is a reflection on how old I am. :( He is an Irish actor, he was in Legends of the Fall with Brad Pitt among other movies.

  • As noted, I agree that if you want something unique, you should stay away from Charlotte or Hannah, but I do like the look and sound of Hannah Quinn, so that would be my pick.

Hayden, Harper and Aria are a bit too trendy for my personal taste.

If you are open, what about Natalie, Amelia, Hadley, Lydia, Felicity or Celeste.

  • I think Aria fits your criteria the best.  Charlotte and Hannah are both lovely names, but quite popular.  I like Harper, but it's definitely trendy and kind of unisex.  I strongly dislike Hayden for a girl and would assume Hayden Quinn was a boy.

  • I agree that Aria works well for your criteria. My favorites are Aria, Hannah, and Charlotte from your list.

Hayden is too gender ambiguous for my liking—and way too popular. I am just not a fan of Harper. It sounds too much like a surname to me.

    **RATE A NAME HERE!**
  • Hannah -- in my area this is a very common name for girls; I'd ask around other moms in your area and see what they think.  My kids are older, so maybe it's less of a "top 3" name now than it was when my kids were small.

    Charlotte -- really like it!

Aria -- unusual; pretty; a music term, if you're into that.  Aria Quinn flows well.

Hayden -- this is a last name that is sometimes used for boys as a first name.  I have known one little girl named Hayden.  So it is unusual, but people will assume your child is a boy.  Also, Hayden Quinn sounds a little awkward because they both end with the same sound.

Harper -- this is getting pretty trendy.  With the mn Quinn, it's going to sound VERY Irish and VERY trendy.

  • Hannah is my sister's name and I think it's beautiful. That would be my first choice and Charlotte would be my second. It's a great name but getting pretty popular. We used it as my daughter's MN because I love it but didn't want it as a FN.

  • I like Hannah, Charlotte and Harper best. I also like another poster's suggestion of Vivian.
  • If you are going for unique I would definitely go back to the drawing board. Aside from Hayden (which is too masculine for my taste) and Aria (which is climbing because of GOT) all your names are top 25. That would be too popular for me, especially if unique is a goal.

Out of your current list I would suggest Hannah.

  • I like Hannah the best from your list. Then Aria. Then Charlotte. Hayden and Harper are okay, but sound too trendy and masculine paired with middle name Quinn.

    Suggestions: Lila, Arden, Elise

This exactly.  They're not unique, they're just trendy.  And Hayden Quinn is a boy's name.
