DD waking up for milk nightly

Dd who is 2 is obsessed with milk. She also still doesn't sleep through the night waking up usually once crying for me. I have to go in and sit with her until she falls asleep and for the past few weeks now throws an all out fit if she doesn't get a few ounces of milk in the sippy. She has more then enough during the day, including a few ounces before bed, but if I give her water, she will scream, throw her sippie across the room, etc. Also, I am starting to train her in a week and there is no way I want to give her any liquid, even water, in the middle of the night. Advice? Just cut it out and let her scream.

Re: DD waking up for milk nightly

  • With my niece, we had to just cut it out and let her scream. Took about 2 nights to figure out she wasn't getting any and she stopped asking. On a side note, the sugar in the milk gave her a terrible cavity and she almost needed a root canal at two. She never got another cavity after pulling the milk.

  • Cut it out and let her scream. It is terrible for her teeth.
  • Let her scream. Milk after brushing teeth is really bad, it's exactly the same thing as having juice as far as tooth injury from it is concerned. If she's getting enough milk during the day she does not need it at night.

Also, side note, you can't force overnight potty training. Unlike daytime training being able to hold pee all night is physiological and can't be taught. Eventually her body will either hold it all night or wake her up. There's nothing that can force it. My girls both bring cups of water to bed with them and it's not a problem, they either hold their pee all night or wake up and go to the bathroom. I keep water on my nightstand as well so I don't feel right denying them water if they're thirsty.
