Anyone have any experience with different progesterone brands?
For my fresh IVF cycle in March 2012, I was put on 100mg of Endometrin (cycle was a success). For my first FET cycle this past April, I was put on a (compounded) 400mg progesterone micro powder. It was very messy (I had to wear panty liners) and it didn’t have an applicator like Endometrin does. This cycle was successful as well, but we lost the baby at 11w2d.
We are moving forward with FET#2 and I asked my doctor if it was possible to be put on the Endometrin instead of the micro powder if the two are inter-changeable (I was concerned about the difference in dosage between the two). She said that the dosage is different because of the different ways the two types are absorbed by the body, and I could do the Endometrin if that’s what I preferred.
I am now second guessing myself and thinking that I should just stay with what was successful for my first FET and just deal with the minor inconveniences. I did ask why they prescribe different progesterone for fresh IVF vs FET and she said it’s just what the standard protocol is for the different procedures. I’m scared if this cycle doesn’t work, I’ll go crazy thinking it was because I switched the progesterone brand. My meds haven’t been ordered yet, so any experience or advice you can share would be greatly appreciated!
