sleep regression

Anyone going through a sleep regression phase??? What are you doing in order to help your LO or to help yourselves? Almost thinking about pulling out the swaddle again. (That was one of the suggestions i read) Was looking for any advice you all have to offer!!

  • Like PP said, we've had a number of sleep regressions, after we sleep-trained DS several months ago.

Each time, the regression was caused by either illness or teething.  Luckily (knock on wood), so far each regression only lasted 2-3 nights and DS would go back to STTN.

I think having him sleep-trained helped - as soon as he started feeling better, he was able to self-soothe and put himself back to his normal sleep pattern.

Yup, coming out of one (I hope!!) right now. We basically just suffered through it. DD started STTN at about 3 months, so this has been especially tough. I changed the sound on her sound machine a few times because she would get sick of the same one. I busted out a little projector, that helped to at least get her to sleep some. But yeah, as PP said, her "practicing" skills are what's mainly keeping her up. She's working on crawling, and has recently mastered rolling over and over and over. She'll roll over in her sleep, get stuck, fuss, fall asleep, then wake up slightly and start doing her frog-leg crawl motions while she's barely awake. A couple of times she's moved around so much she got wedged in at the end of her co-sleeper and couldn't turn around. Once she gets the hang of crawling, I'm hoping things'll go back to normal.

ETA: A suggestion is to use actual music, lullabies or classical, instead of white noise (if you've tried that). I guess it gives her something to focus on other than her new abilities.GL!
