Baby monitors

Ok, we're dads (well, I'm to be). I need some gadget help. I'm trying to find a baby cam that I can have a hand held monitor, and a mobile app so I can check up on the little guy while I'm away. It's important for me to have the app, but its also important to have the home screen because I don't want to wake up at night and open my iPhone and go into an app just to make sure my baby is ok, or if it was a hiccup that woke me up. Any one have any suggestions? Money isn't an issue.

Re: Baby monitors

  • Jack19, can you add the blink camera to the MBP36?? I've been researching these 2 cameras because I want the same thing as OP but I haven't found one yet. Have you tried using both cameras at once? Thanks

I doubt there's one. I've been researching for months to no avail. If only one of these companies could get that going, they would sell a lot more than the regular monitors. I'm planning on getting the MBP36 and using dropcam from my phone.
  • We found one that does both hand held screen and app in one camera. It's the summer infant privacy series peek plus. It has its own screen (very small) and an iPhone app that you can watch it online without having to buy two cameras.
  • ibaby monitor. connects to both our phone and i pad . $199.99 at baby's r us. as long as you secure your wifi with a passcode that is not password123 you should be able to keep the peeping toms out. also there is a indoor outdoor option that is basically the same thing. we will be doing it for when our daughter is older... both my hubby and i were crafty teens and karma is totally going to catch up to us

Believe me, I DEFINITELY know how you feel with that last statement!!!
But, like I said above, we found one that works both as an at home hand held monitor. Then also, works with a remote iPhone app in the same camera.

Also, FYI, to everyone. If you spend 150 or more this weekend at baby's r us, you get a free cheepo baby monitor.
  • There was a local news story that said that hackers can use camera baby monitors to try to determine if you are home to break in and things of that nature as well.  You have to really make sure your wifi camera monitor is secure as can be.
