Nap time and new baby with a toddler

My 3 year old have up naps a while ago and we just found out we are pregnant with #2 so I'm just thinking how am I going to get any naps in when the new baby is sleeping with my 3 year old doesn't nap anymore?

We need to get her on a better bed time schedule right now she's up late most nights and then sleeps in late which is ok for now bc I work part time nights and weekends so she likes to wait for me to get home and I'm a night owl...

She will more than likely be going to preschool when she tuns 4 which is in December and I am due in April so hoping I can squeeze in some naps while she's at preschool she won't be going all day through

So what do you do in this situation? How can I get some naps in with the new baby and a toddler who goes non stop like all day long lol I guess I'll just be a tired mama lol

Re: Nap time and new baby with a toddler

  • What about starting a quiet time every day.  Make it an hour or two in her room where she can read books or play quietly, but she must stay in her room.  DD still naps, but if she didn't she would still have a quiet time.  This is the way I look at it, if she went to preschool full day she would be expected to lay on a cot/mat for at least an hour, so why shouldn't she do the same with me?

I guess the other option would be perhaps putting a movie on for her, while you nap on the couch?  Or maybe when the summer comes you could pay a high school or college kid to bring her to the park for a couple of hours, or entertain her in your home while you sleep.
