Rec your play mat

The blanket on the floor isn't cutting it! We have hardwood with dogs so I want a nice sturdy thicker playmat that is non slip and doesn't have a heavy plastic/chemical odor. Any recommendations are welcome!

  • We have the fisher price luv u zoo one. My lo loved it, but I wouldn't say you HAVE to have this one. LO really just liked the flashing lights and abundance of toys to play with. He really first noticed and enjoyed the flashing lights. I would highly recommend one with flashing lights.

  • I bought ours at ikea. It was nice and big, I think close to 4ftx4ft, and was nice and padded. Completely machine washable. It didn't have all the bells and whistles of a typical playmat but was a nice place for DD to play with her toys.
  • I should specify, I'm not looking for an activity mat, just a flat mat to roll out on the floor for him to play on.
  • I like the fisher price jungle one. If you get one, get one with lights and sound. I also recommend getting one with four bars that go across the top to form 90 degree angles. This is awesome for when kids are learning to stand. Just enough support to make them feel safe, but help them practice a new skill.

  • My sister in law swears by her Lamaze octopus play mat. They're expensive though - $100

I don't think anyone actually answered your question, but I too am looking for something like this. DS rolls around so much I need something to prevent him from bonking his head off the floor. My sister has has those big foam puzzle pieces.

  • The fisher price piano mat was a total hit across my birth month group. We referred to it as the crack mat.
