I like the English spelling of Margo. It's simple and easy.
I think Margot looks better, but I will forever be reminded of spending a semester in high school asserting it was pronounced MAR-go while we were reading The Diary of Anne Frank. To my high school English teacher.
In my head it's supposed to be spelt "Margot", but whenever I see it in real life I read it "mar-got" and I have to correct myself before I say it out loud. I think personal preference is key with this one.

This and I agree with PP Margaux looks snooty. I love the way it sounds, it is a great name. Just unfortunate about the "Mar-got" and maggot look to it. Margo is a very tempting choice, but I think Margot is the tradtionally correct spelling, which overrules the aeathetics IMO. If you love the name, I suggest you go for it, as Margot

This!
Also, I aways make the Margot/maggot connection too.
I prefer Margo as a nn for a full name (Margaret, Marguerite for example - Marjorie/Margery is on our list, but it's more of a stretch). That was it looks less "incomplete", since it's just a nick name...(not sure why, that's just how my brain works)
I like the name. I don't know what I prefer. Probably Margaux, but no one would ever spell it right on the first try (though I did know a Margaux in middle school).
Re: Margo vs. Margot
I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.
Looove Margo/Margot.
