@Stasi, it's white. There are black-ish shutters right now but they're old and tired and need to be replaced. I also want to coordinate that with the door and the porch color (which needs to be repainted). I'm really bad at knowing what goes together and I really want to have fun with color, but I don't want it to look tacky. I need to figure out the happy medium sweet spot!
I've played around with the idea of changing out the boring white siding for shingle siding with stone veneer over the chimney, but DH isn't on board with that.
I don't know what a decorative storm door is. I would get a plain storm door, all glass with just the outside edge in white (assuming your trim is white), and do a nice pop front door.
Oooh, from this link I love the gold, purple (though it shows more royal blue) and red ones... I wouldn't do matching shutters with any of those colors though... I guess if you wanted the shutters to match I might do more of a green.

I think I want the shutters to "go" more than match. I want to have an eye for this stuff, and I'm getting better, but it's just not all there yet!
How much do you use these doors? Is a storm door a necessity? For example we have a storm door in the front (no purpose) but not one in the back? It is really strange. I will be eliminating that storm door in the front ASAP.

The storm door will be more for looks since we don't use the front door. That's why I want to get one with some personality! Our house is on a main road and right now is a pretty big eye sore. I plan on changing the shutters, adding color to the door and painting the concrete porch.
