When are you telling boss/co-workers?

Re: When are you telling boss/co-workers?

  • I told my boss and the receptionists soon after I found out so they would understand if I wasn't around as much. I'll be announcing it to the rest of the girls on the 12th at our meeting. I'll be 10 weeks and I just can't hide how sick I've been anymore :/

  • Told my bosses right away to be courteous. My job involves a lot of lifting. Didn't want them to think I was just being lazy.
  • I also told my boss super early because I needed time off for appointments. She was really supportive but I can't help but feel a little anxious about telling her so early along. Ah well, not much choice since I'd have to give a reason for all the doc appointments either way. On another note, I can't imagine what it must be like for those of you that only get 6-12 weeks of mat leave... Everyone I know takes 12 months (common in Canada) and it's so tough for me to wrap my mind around such a short time off. You guys are pretty strong to handle so much on so little sleep!
  • I'm in the same boat! I started a new career at the end of June. We didn't know we were pregnant, of course. I'm waiting until after my first doctor appt or first trimester. I feel like they'll be disappointed. :(
  • my direct boss knows.I told her due to appointments and such. She is thrilled. We are pretty much BFF's and she already claimed the right to host my baby shower. (thats a whole other topic) The other girl in our department knows because of appointments and its, only three of us in the department, I couldnt keep it from her.

The rest will find out later. I'm good without an announcement. I will tell HR to figure out paperwork around 13-14 weeks, but besides that Im good.
