2nd Trimester

Headaches..ugh!

Since I started my second trimester I notice I get these headaches.  Usually it happens when I'm hungry or hot.  Lately every day on my way home from work is the worst ones.  I tried eating grapes driving home to see if that helped and it didn't.  Any one else have this problem?  I never had headaches before.  I know tylenol is safe to take but I was trying to take care of it without depending on meds.  Any advice?

There's another great post on headaches around here somewhere... I cut coffee cold turkey when I found out I was expecting. I ended up with such bad migraines that after missing three weeks of work because i couldn't drive....the dr made me take meds. They made me very high and sick... And i was very worried about the baby in all of it. Took them two days, headaches let up and the dr prescribed coffee! I had been drinking it so long that I couldn't go without. I now drink one cup of iced coffee a day. No more headaches :) maybe you need caffeine? Don't let it get to the point of drugs. I thought that I could just handle the pain, because it was better for me to suffer, then the baby to have side effects. I was wrong. Baby is fine, and I'm pain free now!

I am in the same boat- headaches as soon as I entered the second tri! I've been using a cold pack on my head and drinking lots of ice cold water, which usually helps. However, if it lingers for more than 24 hours, I take one extra strength tylenol (500 mg) which is absolutely ok to take (and not to mention, totally works)! Yesterday I read somewhere that there is an old wives tale for curing headaches: cut a lime in half and rub it across your forehead. Whether or not this works, I don;t know, but I kind of want to try it next time! Hope you start to feel better soon!!

I got headaches often in my first pregnancy and now again this pregnancy. With all the hormones and increased blood flow its hard not to get them. Usually only resting makes mine go away. Hope they disappear soon!

I have chronic migraines and my doctor prescribed Loratab.  They don't do anything and neither does tylenol.  For me, I just have to lay down with an ice pack.

I just started my 2nd Trimester and in the same boat as well.  It was like clockwork, my nausea has started to go away but now the headaches are kicking in full force!  I've taken Tylenol that seems to help if I take it early in the morning but other than that drinking water and taking naps seems to help.

It sounds weird but my MIL swears by it and it worked for me. Drink a cup of coffee or a small can of pepsi when you take your Tylenol. The caffiene releases the pressure of blood vessels and the Tylenol relieves the pain.

I do get light headaches from time to time. I do notice a correlation with not having caffeine unfortunately. So I try to have one small coffee a day. Great idea to take with Tylenol, I agree this helps.

I get headaches every single day and Tylenol does nothing for me, it never has. Like a PP said, I was caffeine dependant before I got pregnant and then going to none really messed me up. I now have a soda a day and it normally works. Good luck

I'm in the same boat! I started with these headaches in week 12, now I am in week 14. I guess this is part of the 2nd trimester. I try to do without the Tylenol as much as I can, but I can't let it go too far is I suffer frim migraine headaches and that's just unbearable! Good luck and feel better!

I've got ONE headache in my life before I was pregnant. They are more consistent with me now but still not usual. My problem is because they don't happen very often they generally turn into migraines. My vision gets messed up, I get nauseous and my vision gets messed up. I just try to drink more water and rest in a cool, dark area when it happens.

I am in my second trimester and beginning to have HORRIBLE headaches I try not to take any medicine but sometimes it's unbearable I'm starting to see a correlation between the headaches and low blood sugar though. :/

I was having horrible migraines throughout my first trimester. I believe it is because of my caffiene dependency, and trying to cut it out cold turkey.... Now, in my second trimester I am only getting mild headaches every once in a while. It seems now they are more like "allergy" headaches. My doctor suggested taking an allergy pill with the Tylenol. It seems to help the problem go away.

I started SEVERE migranes with aura almost to the day of the start of the second tri. I've had one now for 48hrs. Called a number here in Canada to see if I can take something other than Tylenol since they did zilch. Took half a t3, slept, and its almost better.
