cold weather running?

I just started jogging this summer and plan to keep at it over fall/winter. I have an 8 month old that I jog with. I'm a sahm so he comes with me on jogs. We don't belong to the gym anymore so I rely on exercising outside. I'm starting to think about gearing up for the colder months. What gear and brands are essential for mama and baby for cold weather running?

For you: nice fleece lined running rights, a lightweight running jacket, running hat or ear warmer, long sleeve dri-fit top, running gloves (I like the ones that have the wind guard you can pull over the fingers and make it more of a mitten) and some nice wool socks (love my smart wools for winter running). The key is to not overdress. I like to be chilly to cold at the beginning of my run. You warm up fast and the last thing you want to do is overheat. For kiddo: I use the weather guard you can buy for BOB strollers. When he was younger, I used the bundle me, as he got older I just piled blankets on him plus his snow boots. ETA: my running jacket has zip-off sleeves, so it converts to a vest. I usually use it as a vest with long sleeve tech shirt unless it gets really cold (below 20F)

  • Perfect! I've been wondering about smart wool socks. I'll definitely look into them and some running rights, etc! Thanks!
