Baby Girl Middle Name

edited July 2013 in Baby Names
I've asked this a while ago, but DH and I still haven't decided and now I can make a clicky poll! FN is Matilda. I want the MN to be for the Virgin Mary. We have a few options: Mary - direct and obvious, Marie - flows a little better, but isn't as obvious since my middle name is also Marie - I don't want people to think she was named for me when she wasn't, Maria - I like the flow, but is it too similar in sound to Matilda? I'm not a huge fan of using a title or other reference to Our Lady besides a variation of Mary. DH is for 'Marie', and I'm for 'Mary,' - Maria has yet to be discussed. If you've got another idea, please post. Also, if you feel strongly enough to share your reasons, I'd be happy to hear them! Thanks!

Re: Baby Girl Middle Name

  • I voted for Matilda Mary.  I am assuming you are Catholic?  These are other "names/ NNs" that are often associated with Mary

    Guadalupe

    Conception (Con-sep- she- own)

    Stella ("Star" of the Sea)

    Maris ("the Sea")

    Madonna

Just throwing those out there in case you wanted something a little more abstract.

  • I voted Matilda Marie, but I also like Matilda Maria. I really don't like Mary as a mn for Matilda.

  • A little less traditional Catholic, but a plausible reference to the Virgin Mary could be Virginia.
