~Tuesday bed rest check in~

Good morning! At least I hope it is good. Many of us spent some time in L&D yesterday. I hope everyone is doing better today. How was everyone's night? Any updates.?? QOTD: Do you think environmental factors like full moon and change in barometric pressure can cause our bodies to do strange things such as increased contractions, labor, etc?

Re: ~Tuesday bed rest check in~

  • After all the emotional and physical toll of being in L&D with painful contractions I thought I'd sleep well. Nope, I couldn't get comfortable. I blame the darn Procardia. Hate that stuff, but love being in my own bed so..... MFM and growth scan today. Praying they're both doing well. QOTD: I think there could be something behind it. I don't have any scientific evidence or anything. In my line of work we treat heart attack patients. I have a military coworker with a watch that tells him a shift, either up or down, in barometric pressure. There have been many times when we get a influx of heart attack patients that his watch says there's been a shift in barometric pressure. I've never seen any research to back it up, but some think the change causes plaque in the arteries to shift, rupture, break loose thus causing a heart attack.

  • Man, a lot of us were in L&D yesterday. Stupid contractions!

Slept like poop, mostly because I was in L&D until about 4am, I just ate breakfast and I'm ready to sleep for a few hours!  I'm wondering if I can up my procardia dose until next Monday (when I hit 36 weeks) but also thinking that may be stupid and not worth the side effects.

Contractions are taking a toll on me. I know that many of you have had issues since way before me so I feel silly complaining, but not having a clue what is going on and taking trips to L&D is just exhausting.  I don't think I could be more mentally or physically exhausted.

QOTD: L&D nurses always say stuff about a full moon...has to be something to it? Maybe...? I really  have no idea. haha

  • I slept so much through out the day yesterday and some at night, thank god :) I took a indomethacin before I went to bed so didn't have tightness.

Currently watching "a baby story" I am excited about this epi because its about a lady or had two loss one still born boy, one early mc and now on bedrest with cerclage. She did bedrest starting 12wks and made it to 39wks :) I am recording it for the hubby to watch. Her history is just like mine now staying positive I make it to term like her :)

I am also waiting for my nurse to get here. Today she will do the doppler little ones heart beat :-) I have a Doppler but haven't used if in weeks so it would be nice to hear little girls heart today. After today's shot only 11 more to go.. Woohoo lol

Qotd I sort of believe things happen on fullmoons.. Was it a full moon yesterday?
  • I slept fairly well. The docs came in today and said they changed the orders for getting blood from me, so they will take blood every 3 days instead of every day. They are also going to  write an order that says I can go outside in a wheelchair, yay for having a little escape!
QOTD: I do think things happen on full moons, no scientific evidence, but I have seen it affect the behavior of the kids I work(ed) with. I am a teacher assistant in a special ed preschool, well when I go back, I will be back in the kindergarten class I got moved to last year. The kids have some rough behavior to start with, but they always seemed worse when there was a full moon.

  • Update: 25 weeks today! I was moved back to L&D yesterday afternoon after having some pretty strong contractions that I could actually feel. They took me off Procardia to do 24 hrs of magnesium. Not my favorite. But it has helped somewhat. Still having some contractions but they have slowed. Slept pretty lousy since I had two monitors, one toco, a pulse ox monitor, a blood pressure cuff, and an IV. Oh and my IV sprung a leak at 3 and had to be moved. Yow. In talking to my doctors, I think I will be here until 28 wks unless by some miracle my cervix grew! We'll find out on Friday.

QOTD: Yes, I believe the full moon has an impact. My siblings are both doctors and have seen it many times. I have never heard about barometric pressure though.

I'm sorry it was such a rough day/night for so many of you. Thoughts and prayers for those babies to cook longer!

27 weeks today! Looking forward to that magic 28 next week. My turn for a horrible night of sleep but my uterus decided not to cave too much to peer pressure, so there is that!

I do believe in the effects of the full moon, as a teacher see it all the time. I don't always think science can explain everything. Happy day, everyone.

I'm glad that all of you that we're in a L&D are still here today and babies are still inside! Wallace, I hope the meeting with the pediatrician goes just as you want it.

I slept amazingly well last night! Maybe 9 hours if I take out the 3 times I was up. I've overdone it the past few days so I look forward to getting back on track by not cheating at all with my MBR restrictions.

Qotd: I have heard it a lot about full moon, not sure about other weather patterns.

I did pretty well last night. The hubs went and borrowed a great big recliner from his parents so I am much more comfortable downstairs now. I had some crazy painful sharp stabbing pains when I went upstairs for bed last night. It scared me but I seem to be a little calmer today.

QOTD- I'm pretty sure that my kids go crazy with the moons and whatnot. I don't know why it happens but I'm sure that it does happen.

31 weeks today! Hoping I make it to 32... Slept ok.

Working in an elementary school, I definitely believe the moon affects things...

  • CONGRATULATIONS on the milestones today! Seems like Tuesday are a big day for new weeks. Way to go ladies! Lets keep up our positive attitudes and keep our LOs cookin! I hope everyone is out of L and D and recovering nicely at home or in the hospital!

My night was ok. Changed rooms to help with my psyche. I was in the same room for 3 weeks. Kinda blah to see the same walls 24/7. The doc came in this morning, poked around my belly and said "got a good sized baby in there". Whatever that means.

QOTD:: I think there is something to be said about full moons and pressure and what not.
  • Last night was rough in L & D. Like @ilovetolaugh said, it is really draining to be at the hospital not knowing what is going on. I am glad my cervix didn't change, but I wish I knew why I was having contractions in the first place. I am so ready to be 36 weeks. Two more weeks!!

Before leaving the hospital they gave me an Ambien. Anyone have crazy hallucinations when taking Ambien? I felt like I was losing it. DH said I was talking like I was drunk. So weird. I did sleep pretty good though.

Today I am excited because I am going to go ahead and order the rest of the stuff we need for baby. 36 weeks will be here soon, and I don't want to be at the hospital and realize we don't have everything we need. So it will be fun today picking out the last of the stuff we need. It will not, however, be fun paying for it.
    ;)

QOTD: I used to work at a law firm specializing in medical collections, and people get a lot more mad and crazy around a full moon. I don't know why, but it always seems to happen that way. Also, I don't know what the deal was yesterday, but a bunch of us ended up in L & D. Not sure what could have caused that, but I thought that it was strange. My husband's co worker's wife actually had her baby yesterday at 36 weeks. And I ran into one of my former co workers while I was at the hospital yesterday. She was having lots of contractions. So yeah, lots of people in the hospital all on the same day. Maybe just coincidence but still interesting.

Aw man, sorry you were in L&D too! Ambien makes me go BONKERS! If I don't take it while I'm in bed so I can fall asleep within a few minutes, I start doing weird crap that I don't remember. It's so weird and it freaks my husband out.

  • Out of curiousity, I looked it up and August 20th is the next full moon. I will be 28 weeks then. I tried to see if there was anything yesterday and didn't see anything.

That's why u wouldn't take it while in the hospital. I was alone at night and heard crazy stories from people who took Ambien. I didn't want to be crazy swinging from the ceiling or something, haha.

    Congratulations on the milestones today!
    Kneenah, glad you found inspiration!
    Wallace, good luck today.
    Hope everyone gets some rest.

  • Hi all! Hope all is well with each of you. I went to MFM appt yesterday. I am 29 wks and 4 days today. Both girls looked great and we got a picture of both of their little faces. It was gorgeous. They are so cute. They look alot alike too. My cervix which was 2.3 a wk ago went up to 2.7 yesterday and with added pressure it goes down to 2.1. So continued bed rest but I am so glad the bed rest is working. I go back to them again for a growth scan on the 12th. And I have an appt with my ob on Friday. B still has extra amniotic fluid on the higher end of normal but all looks good. Couting down the days and praying I make it to September at least. Qotd: yes I definitely believe the moon has alot to do with everything. I was a 911 operator and every full moon all the crazies would come out. We had the highest call volume then. There's something about a full moon.
  • @Staceymack that's great news, glad to hear they are both doing well!
